BTW and Handmade Buttons

by Cindy on April 11, 2012

I’m sliding in, just in time to share a Bead Table Wednesday post.  I would have posted sooner, but I worked hard on staying focused (and offline!).  I have been gathering  up a selection of beads, with a few projects in mind.  These bead color palettes are very different, but they have one thing in common:  vintage buttons.

Visit the Bead Table Wednesday Flickr pool here!

Now I’d like to showcase the work of two of the participants in the upcoming Button Swap!  Both of these artists work with polymer clay and have created their own handmade buttons with beautiful detail.  I love seeing all of the buttons being made out there – each button is unique.

First up we have my friend Laurel Steven’s work.  You can see more of her polymer clay pieces and many other creative endeavors on her blog, Rue’s Daftique.  Her buttons, finished jewelry, and tutorials can be found in her Etsy shop here.

Next I’d like to share the work of Line Labrecque.  You can see more of Line’s work by visiting her blog, Play Sculpt Live – now ins’t that a great blog name?  Really sums up the important things! 🙂

I’ll be heading to Bead Fest in a couple days and I’m looking forward to meeting up with some jewelry friends and meeting some in-person for the first time! Will report back when I can. 🙂

Now here’s a little aside…. I’ve been on a bit of  a lucky streak recently and wanted to share a few goodies that have come my way!  I won a giveaway on Kristi Harrison’s FB Fan Page….  just look at this beautiful bunch of buttons she sent!  Nothing like a bunch of buttons!

Giveaway from Kristi Harrison

I got lucky again and won a giveaway on Kylie Parry’s blog.   Have you ever seen anything like these?  The earth beads are really cool, and so is that sweet owl pendant (not to mention this great packaging!).

Now on to a Button Swap update for those participating in the Swap!  I sent the list of partners out over the weekend, but just wanted to be doubly sure and add the list here.  Please contact me if you have any questions, or if you’re having a hard time reaching your partners.

Please get in touch with your partners and start thinking about the buttons you’d like to send out by April 20th! A big thank you to all that joined!

* Please note that names are listed alphabetically, so you’ll see your name twice.

I’ve saved some of the best photos in this post for last… handmade buttons made by participants in the Button Swap!

Mary Jane Dodd’s metal work  shows incredible craftsmanship with a beautiful, rustic style.  Here are  just a few of her brand new buttons. You can find Mary Jane’s blog here, and her components shop here.

Next I’m happy to share the work of a lampwork artist that I’ve admired since I first started making  jewelry – Marianna Boylan.  She is known for her fun, sculptural beads such as those adorable Mickey Mouse pairs.  You can find Marianna’s blog here and her shop here.

* If you would like me to feature your handmade buttons in a future blog post, please send me an email!

– Enjoy your spring break!

Cindy xoxo

Thank you, swappers!

by Cindy on March 26, 2012

What a FANTASTIC response to the Button Swap Blog Hop!   I see I’m not alone in my crazy little thing for buttons.

I’ll be working on the partner list this week and will be in touch with those that signed up for the Swap!
