Bangle love

Bangles by Cindy Wimmer {sweetbeadstudio}

I’ve been on a bit of a bangle kick this past week.  It all started when I received an inquiry through Etsy, asking about a bangle design that was pinned on Pinterest.  Could I remake this one for her friend?  Well of course I could – it happens to be one of my favorites that inspired me to make several more similar designs over the years.  ”Front and Center” was one of my first tutorials,  published in 2008.

My 2008 bangle design on the bottom features lampwork by Kerry Bogert.  I’m still hoarding a few more beads from that set!  Below is the custom bangle that I just sent off to CA.  It included a note from one BFF to another.  I love that I had a hand in this sweet surprise between two friends.

Now after making that bangle I wanted to make another, so I created a little collection.    I chose a lampwork focal by Moon Stumpp (and I cherish her beads even more so now that she has retired from lampwork bead making and is focusing on painting and digital art), and developed the black and brass color scheme from there.

Like the bracelets I created for the Wrapped, Stacked and Layered Bracelet Challenge last year (one of my favorite challenges to date), these bracelets can be worn separately or together .

Love these and what a great gift for a friend. I love that you make these to coordinate with each other. I love stacking bacelets. Your “wrapped, stacked, and layered” set was awesome – some of the prettiest ones I’ve seen and I still occasionally go back to that post. These are awesome. I Love your work.

Wonderful bangles. Love that up front one with the gorgeous clasp. Your photos are so perfect for these bangles. Love the oak “wrist.”

Cindy!! THESE ARE GORGEOUS!!! I love your Front and Center bangle so much and I’m always honored to see one of my beads pop up in one. You’ve had that Picasso’s Plantation set since 2007!! can you believe that?!? I had to go hunting for a photo of them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kabsconcepts/1216636986/in/set-72157601613527314 It seems like a lifetime since I made them. No one could do them better justice than you.

These are wonderful and I love how you’ve set off just one beautiful lampwork bead in equally gorgeous wire work. Perfect.

Your bangles are simply stunning Cindy! Really amazing wire work and fantastic designs. They belong in an art gallery! I also love the brass/leather and lampwork bead bracelets too. What a creative week you have had!

We are clearly in synch – I made something very similar to your 2008 bangle a few weeks ago (but in copper – you know I love copper). We need to get together soon – I miss you.

Beautiful bangles!!! I’m always impressed with your lovely creations and your beautiful photos. The lampwork beads are a great addition. I’ve been wanting to make bangles but never seem to find the time to allow for them. Thanks for the inspiration!

Beautiful work!

Hi Cindy, These bangles are so amazing and beautiful. They make me want to learn wire work. Maybe I can get to Art Bliss this year (she said hopefully). I really love bangles but these take the cake.
On a personal note, our granddaughter was born a week ago and her heart condition was worse than they thought it would be. She has something called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome which basically means there’s no left side to her heart. She had the first of 3 surgeries on Tuesday. And she’s doing phenomenally well. We are awed by her recovery and thank everyone who’s been praying for her. Even the doctors have said her recovery is “impressive.” Our new family slogan is “VIVA LA EMME.” What a girl!!!

Tracy January 25, 2013 at 3:22 pm

Oh Cindy! Black & brass is such a pretty & classic color scheme. I love that you added the leather in with the wirework and sold them as a set. Lucky new owner! Thanks for the love on Wrapped, Stacked & Layered. I may need to do a Wrapped, Stacked & Layered “2″ later this year.

These are just georgeous Cindy. Love the black and brass and combo of elements. Perfect design as always.
Funny, my group is meeting this weekend and our project is – yup – making bangles! Hope you’re including bangle-making in THE book.
And, lucky, to the buyer.

Patti Vanderbloemen January 26, 2013 at 1:29 am

I love your bangles…the color combination of black and brass is so classy! I remember this design…made one of my first bangles for my niece! Your work is always so exceptionally beautiful, as are the photographs!

Lynda January 27, 2013 at 10:53 am

Loved the Wrapped, Stacked, and Layered challenge, too! Maybe Tracy will take a hint! Your black and brass trio of bracelets are just beautiful. The bangle shows off your skilled wire wrapping so well. Thanks for this inspiring post!

Kayla @ TEEJewelry January 28, 2013 at 1:31 am

I actually made a bangle similar to yours a LONG time ago in a class I signed up for. That had to be at least 5 to 6 years ago!

Those bangles of yours are truly gorgeous; I’m definitely a fan, especially of those 3 you created for the wrapped, stacked and layered challenge :)

I’d love to get into more metal work like these one day!

Cyndi J had this tutorial printed up in at her house and I have to say I fell in love with it the minute my eyes hit the first photo! So very beautiful my friend.xox
