Weekend in pictures

*Warning…lots of pictures!*

We’re back from the weekend get away!

It’s been a memorable and jam-packed few days.  We started off with our 4 year-old’s graduation from preschool.  He was so proud of himself and seems eager to face Kindergarten in the fall.  We then drove down to Colonial Williamsburg, a favorite place I know I’ve mentioned here on this blog a while back.  When my husband was in the  Navy and stationed in the Tidewater area, we would come just for the day to stroll and enjoy a picnic on the greens.  Returning with dozens of families from the school was a different experience.  It was a nice mix of scheduled activities where our son went on tours with his classmates, and free time where we could do whatever we wanted.

Our first stop was the Jamestown settlement where we traveled back in time for a glimpse of what it was like for the early colonists and the Powhatan Indians.   It was fun to meet and chat with other tourists along the way.

My husband said he took a picture in front of this very cannon during his 7th grade field trip here!

I don’t know why, but for some reason I enjoy taking pictures of signs when I walk through a scenic town.  Apparently in the colonial times the signs had no words, simply pictures for the large population who could not read.

My favorite stop for a carry-out sandwich. The famous "Death by Chocolate" dessert was created by the owner/chef.

Everyone has to stop here....we caught a number of teachers inside!

What's inside the candy shop!
I discovered the best peanut brittle here!

We were lucky that the weather was perfect the entire weekend.  My son’s birthday fell during this trip.   I hope he’ll always remember his 7th birthday by our family trip to Williamsburg.

We hit one last place before we returned home…Bush Gardens.  Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend crowd!  It wasn’t too bad…there were a few loooong lines, but going on 3-D and 4-D rides were worth it!

I thoroughly enjoyed “your” trip. I have never been to Williamsburg, but one dayI will!
And, how wonderful for your son to have celebrated his 7th birthday on vacation there with his mother, father and his brothers; and to always have that memory in his heart!
I loved your pictures Cindy~thanks so much for sharing them with us =)

Cindy,
I cannot believe how your boys have grown! They are all such handsome boys. Little Nathaniel is following right along behind them. Beautiful family. I really enjoyed all the pictures.

LOVE all the pictures and family details. Really cute picture of the whole family and the one with Randy and Nathaniel in “stocks” is a keeper! I just got back from our annual Hilton Head sisters’ week yesterday and am now doing laundry and packing to leave for 4 days in Baltimore tomorrow. Carrie graduates from high school on Tuesday evenning at Towson State. A thousand kids in cap and gown! The party will be July 25th at Kate’s. Maybe you and Randy and the boys can join us! The pool will be open by then! Keep writing. Love, Madeline
