Hello friends!
Many of you are participating in or following along with the 52 Weeks – Focus on Life challenge. Can you believe it’s the half-way point already? I don’t know how that happened. Although I haven’t participated every week, I’ve enjoyed jumping in as often as I can. For Week 26, our challenge was a great big “?”. We’re picking our own photo prompt this week & I can’t wait to see what others are choosing. You can find links to the participant’s posts right here.
My prompt for the week is color crush. 🙂
You may have seen this pretty 3 Region Blend bag at your local Starbucks. See that color combination? It captures the palette that I have been crazy about all Spring and now Summer. It’s that gray + ______ (fill in a color) that I like in particular. Gray + teal, gray + coral, and gray with just about anything, especially pale colors. Pink + gray was my favorite combination in the 80’s – any of you remember that one? One year my locker had stickers and decorations entirely made of this color scheme.
Here is a picture I pinned a while back that perfectly captures my color crush:
With these colors in mind, I went on to make a necklace starting with a foundation of gray quartz beads and a mix of those great colors.
And here’s an impromptu snapshot of an outfit to wear with the new necklace (love Garnet Hill dresses!) –
Now speaking of color crushes, I have a resource that I have to share with you in case you haven’t heard! Did you see the color maven herself has a brand new book? Brandi Hussey just launched her new book, Understanding Color: Color Theory Made Easy. Thanks to Brandi, we can all learn more about color in an approachable way. I’ve been enjoying my digital copy and was excited to receive my hard copy in the mail today!
Til next time –
Cindy, xoxo

What a gorgeous necklace – I love the colour scheme, and I ‘m a big fan of grey too! Thanks for the info on Brandi Hussey – I have just had a peep at her blog, and think it definitely needs a good browse around later – and I always need more books!!!
Love your color combo! The necklace is so wonderful. (Garnet Hill is wonderful)
That necklace is the perfect interpretation of your color crush Cindy! The outfit looks beautiful on you, you are always so stylish and well coordinated! Hope you’re enjoying your summer!
Love the necklace and the outfit. Great post!
What a beautiful necklace! I love gray, and I have some gray beads I’m rethinking now. Thanks for the post!
Love your necklace – one of my favorite color combos. Gray graces a couple of rooms in my house – a perfect neutral.
Brandi’s book is a MUST HAVE for every designer. She is a master at breaking down and simply explaining complicated theories. The colors that grace every page are a feast for the eyes. Hands down the best book ever about color.
Cindy, simple but makes a beautiful statement. As always you nail it! Happy summer.
OH oh!! What a fabulous dress and perfectly matched necklace!! You and I have a similar color crush 😉
Cindy, I LOVE this necklace! It’s quite elegant. Great job! Now I want to go buy that bag of Starbucks coffee!
Oh yes I remember the pink and gray period, and the lime green and orange one before that! What were we thinking???
Oh Cindy I am with you on this one, I am loving the grey base colour mixed with brights. My favourite combinations are grey with Lime or Yellow, love it!!
Your necklace is divine
That’s a great necklace and it looks fabulous with your outfit. I went through a gray phase too. I still love gray with pink.
What a treat! I’m so with you on this colour crush. I usually tend towards muddy shades, but I’ve been on a bit of a bright kick. This – this feels more like home. I can imagine that gorgeous gallery wall in a big airy kitchen with a massive dark wood harvest table. Love seeing you translate these colours into jewelry and what a gorgeous head to toe ensemble you ended up with. I got a sweet email from Brandi that my copy is on the way – even brought it to the post office by the airport in the hopes of hurry it, sweet thing 🙂
Gorgeous necklace
Wow, Cindy, what an absolutely gorgeous necklace! Love the colour combo, love the design. I’m with you on the grey and pink era! I (well, let’s be honest, it started out being my Mom’s HAHA) had a sweater that was pink angora with a grey felt poodle stitched on it, and a grey (what we would now call) pencil skirt…to this day, that was my favorite outfit EVER. What a great memory you’ve brought back!
I love your theme for this week! Who doesn’t love color! When we moved into our first house (which my father built for us) I wanted gray and dark pink colors. They looked so good with my collectiono of seashells.
Your necklace is just gorgeous!! I think it would go with any outfit and any event.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I think I have a crush on your color crush! Your necklace is perfect and beautiful. I have a love affair with pink and I’ve always loved it with gray!
I’m drooling!!! I love love love the necklace – the colors and the little corsage to the side. I want the dress and sweater, too. : )
Lovely necklace… I know I have at least one pound of coffee in my freezer bought entirely because I loved the imagery on the bag!
Beautiful color combos. I am loving your necklace. I have to re-think gray!
Very sweet and feminine! Love it Cindy. Your jewellery always radiates your beauty inside and out! Yeah I always loved pink and grey..pink and green too!
Oooh, that necklace is absolutely stunning – I LOVE it!!
And thanks for the kind words and the shout out, Miss Cindy – I totally appreciate them!
Ooooh…great focus theme! I remember pinks and grays, I looooved that color combination. Your color crush is a great up to date take on those 80’s colos. The necklace you created is gorgeous and a perfect interpretation of the colors!
Lovely color scheme! Now I don’t usually like big beads like that but when I continued to scroll down and saw that pop of color I was like wow, I love it! And seeing it on the model made me like it even more!
Happy 4th July Cindy!
Beautiful colors – I especially like the pink/grey combination!
