artBLISS 2013 – a weekend of bliss!

by Cindy on October 8, 2013

In a flash, our long-awaited weekend of art bliss has come and gone.

I heard several times afterwards that artBLISS 2013 was the best one yet. I have to agree – it just keeps getting better.  Artists, bloggers, jewelry designers, friends – we all gathered for a weekend of camaraderie and workshops.  We came with our hopes – hearts full of anticipation – and minds ready to learn….. and I do believe we left feeling renewed (and a bit tired, yes) with a sense of validation that we don’t often find in our every day lives.   It was good to see many attendees return, many for the 4th year in a row. We missed those that just couldn’t make it this year.  We also welcomed first-time attendees to the artBLISS community.  We were especially thankful for the elite group of instructors who made artBLISS 2013 so memorable.  They shared their knowledge and contagious passion for many different mediums of jewelry design.

If you could not attend this year, we have you covered! We’d like to keep you posted on our future events and hope to see you in 2014.  Please join the artBLISS newsletter list, and you’ll be entered to win a $50 gift certificate!

Richard Salley at artBLISS

We were thrilled to have Richard Salley return and to welcome Jessica Papke  – they taught 3 incredible ring workshops.

There are many FUN traditions at artBLISS:

At the Meet and Greet, students meet their instructors and friends while enjoying yummy appetizers.

Jewelry made by artBLISS instructors

The chance to shop from instructors is a big highlight – often times they bring pieces that are not sold elsewhere.  (Clockwise:  cuff by Richard Salley, ring by Jessica Papke and earrings by Stacie Florer).

Lunch at artBLISS!  We eat lunch as a group at artBLISS so there is plenty of time to catch up with friends and share works in progress (from left:  Patti, Heather, Dia, artBLISS-cohost-Jeanette, Shelly, Michelle, Bette and Jenny).

Another favorite tradition is the artBLISS Charm Swap!  Every year participants really put their heart and soul in to their mini charm designs (and packaging) and we all look forward to the swapping and unveiling during lunch.  A special thanks to Dawn for coordinating the swap again this year.

The Saturday Night Soiree was a new social this year.  We had pizza and salads brought in so the attendees could stay after class, socialize, unwind, and SHOP!  We had limited spacing for vendors and the spots were grabbed quickly.  What fun – shopping for vintage components, art beads and jewelry supplies!

Cindy Wimmer - The Missing Link book signing

My shipment of my new book, The Missing Link arrived just in time to bring to artBLISS.  The response by the attendees was heart-warming and I thank everyone for sharing this big milestone with me; it was a magical moment in time.   I had both my jewelry and those made by some of the contributors on display.  I was lucky to have 2 contributors join me at the retreat, both Christine Damm and Tracy Statler.  Please join all of us on the book blog tour coming up on Oct. 15th!

So much work to organize but it must be rewarding to see students learning new skills and watching new friendships being formed. The pieces you created in Stacie’s and Richard’s workshop are stunning. There’s nothing like being in the company of like-minded souls spending time creating new objects of beauty. And the charm swap! What little artistic gems.

Great recap Cindy. I love how you photographed your ring and your earrings. I know you will be able to get lots and lots of wear out of both of them. You also chose incredible pieces from Richard, Jessica and Stacie. Wow. I had not seen any of those pieces up close! I had tons of fun taking Stacie’s class with you – I look forward to the big 5th anniversary!

Hold the phone. First thing first is that ring you show made by Jessica now yours? That is so gorgeous. I can’t put my finger on exactly what proportion or shape makes me Love it but oh man! I signed up for the newsletter and I will commence positive thinking as well, a lot can happen in a year. It has been wonderful hearing about so many people experience and your pictures and post really show such a great community. Oh what fun! Congrats on creating all the special!

What a lovely way to start my morning this morning! Love all your photos, you are right, it goes by so fast after so much anticipation and I am already looking forward to next year! Your earrings turned out gorgeous, I didn’t see them with the hoops attached, and the pieces you scored from everyone are amazing, I envy you the cuff as I told you! It was a great weekend, thanks to you and Jeanette for all your hard work and for the wonderful instructors who travel so far with their studios in tow who so generously share their knowledge, Hugs all around!

So fun to see these pictures. Has it really been two+ weeks? It was a great time. I really loved the people most of all, but making new things and coming home with new techniques (and a whole lot of new materials and tools to buy) is always worthwhile. I would highly recommend ArtBliss to anyone who has not been. It is a marvelous venue with great instructors and wonderful hosts! Enjoy the day! Erin

I cannot believe artBLISS has come and gone! Your pictures – as I always tend to comment- are gorgeous! I have to say, inasmuch as I LOVED all 3 classes, the best part was the collaboration amongst friends, especially those that I have never met “in person” before! Your ring and your earrings came out FABULOUS!!! I wear one of my spinner rings every day – and I don’t typically wear jewelry (shame on me, I know!) You and Jeanette did a fantastic job, as usual, and I would not miss artBLISS 5 for anything! Thank you!

Kerry October 9, 2013 at 12:47 pm

OH!!! What great photos and fun times to have had!! I couldn’t be more disappointed about missing this year. It’s always the highlight of my year to spend the weekend with you and the fabulous people at artBLISS. Your class projects turned out AWESOME!!

It was so much fun! Can’t wait until next year and see what you will have in store.

Love the post earrings and ring you made. You made some lovely purchases too!

Thanks to you and Jeanette for hosting and organizing such a great event!

I always love reading and seeing about your trip to artBLISS each year! If I can’t go I’m happy that I can live vicariously through you and your stunning pictures 🙂

It really DOES sound like this was the best year so far! Those pieces you created in your workshops are simply amazing. I particularly love that ring (I’m truly a sucker for rings). Although I’m also in love with the ring you bought by Jessica Papke-It’s so unique!!

On an off note, I’m super excited for your book tour! 🙂

Glad you had an amazing time, took away a lot of new things, and had a safe trip back home!

Kristi October 10, 2013 at 5:00 pm

I’d sure love to come, not sure I’ll ever be able to fly to the east coast to attend though. If you ever have one on the west coast I’d be all over it if I could! Thanks, it was fun to read and see all the pics.
