Monday, Monday. How did it roll around so fast? I hope you enjoyed beautiful weather the way we did here in Virginia. With such great weather, we decided to see what we could do outdoors. After lacrosse practice, we drove to DC to stroll around the museums. This is probably my husband’s #1 suggestion to the “what should we do today?” question.
My 5 year old son has started a little arrowhead collection, so we headed to the National Museum of the American Indian. Great consideration was taken when constructing this fairly new museum. The Kasota stone building was created by Native American designers and architects, and faces the dome of the Capitol building. We viewed many examples of beads, arrow heads and peace medals. Afterward we visited the ever-popular National Air and Space Museum…a little boy’s dream destination. It’s always interesting to learn more about the Wright Brothers and their inventions.

We celebrated my Dad’s birthday this weekend too. He doesn’t like a lot of attention and a big fuss. And what do you give to someone who insists that he doesn’t need anything? Knowing how much he adores his favorite friend I made a little collage on canvas. Collage is really new to me (other than a few elementary school memories), so therefore you’ll see my newbie attempt. It was really fun though to just paint and add whatever whimsical touch that came to mind!

Have a great week-

Your collage is so sweet! It doesn’t look like a newbie attempt at all. I bet your dad was so impressed. Is this a start of another craft for you? It sounds like you guys had a great weekend and some great photos to show it. The Native American museum has very creative architecture with the curves. How cool that you are surrounded by so many great museums and history.

Love the Indian Museum. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been there. Their gift shop was to die for. I found some beautiful glass vases … but too pricey for my budget. The collage is great and I like the way you outlined the dog in black and put in other black accents. Way cool!
Cindy,
I just know your collage will probably be one of the gifts he will remember receiving the most….because you MADE it!
