I {heart} Sepia

by Cindy on October 19, 2009

Hope you had a great weekend….how does Monday always come so soon?

I enjoyed a nice treat this weekend and actually saw a jewelry designer friend.    Normally my world of blogging  meets online only…but every once in a while blog land becomes in-person, which is really great!   I had a chance to visit with Lori Anderson at the Craftsmen’s Classic here in VA (same location as those big bead shows I so love to attend).  We never get to chat long though because her booth is always full of customers.    Her beautiful designs sure draw in the crowds! 🙂

Remember I promised to share some 1st birthday pictures?  Here they are all fancied up using a new technique I learned in Susan Tuttle’s Visual Poetry class (which has sadly come to an end today).  I just love this old-timey sepia look…now my photos can look just like those vintage photos many of us adore.  Oh, and by the way…see in this first photo – the boys made their little brother this adorable owl at Build a Bear Workshop…it is SO cute (accessorized with birthday cupcake and all).

And before I go, just thought I’d share  the link to a beautiful blog I just discovered, Rebecca for Vintage Living.  Stop by her blog for to see some great vintage finds, wonderful jewelry, and to read her post about her recent art retreat {and shhhh! she’s having a give away!}.    I hope to post a blog  surprise  soon too -hmm, wonder what it could be? – Better check back!

Gorgeous pictures! I’ve always loved sepia tone, it’s nostalgic and sweet without being as harsh as black and white. What a handsome group of boys you have, Cindy! Belated birthday wishes to your adorable baby – love those cheeks!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful…beautiful boy{s}
I love the sepia tone too. I think that it adds such a lush quality to the photos and makes it extremely easy to group since the color is taken out of the equation. Works in any style.
I will go check out your friend’s blog. I am always seeking inspiration! How cool is it that you got to meet Lori! I love meeting my new found friends, but it doesn’t happen often. Someday I feel that we WILL meet Cindy, not if but when.
Enjoy the day!

Cindy, thanks for posting the pictures! Really cute! What was the cake design for Nathaniel? I couldn’t quite make it out from the photo! I’m sure it was creative and meaningful to him and the family!!

Great pictures of a beautiful family…I love the sepia tones. They would make a great grouping all framed.
I will be sure to check out the blog “Rebecca for Vintage Living”. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day!

The photos are wonderful with their vintage look. I seem to notice more details in photos when they are done that way. That’s so sweet that the boys made Nathaniel an owl. He’ll cherish it for years to come.

Oh think of all the fun you can have now with different photo techniques!!! What a great birthday party with great pictures of the boys!!

What an amazing job the big guys did in creating the owl!!! Maybe they should have their own ETSY shop. And Cindy if they want to practice my birthday is the 4th of Nov. and I LOVE stuffed animals 😉

You and the gang have a great week. Hmmm I’m seein long sleeves in the pictures does that mean it’s getting cold yyiiiiikkkk?? 🙁

Thanks for all of the warm comments! I think I’m going to have lots of fun in the future playing with the sepia tones. And in case you’re wondering (Madeline), it’s a puppy-shaped cake!

I just love, love, love these sepia pictures! And, the picture of Nathaniel grabbing his hat is my favorite! He is such a cutie…but then all your guys are! What a beautiful family you and Randy have. You have much to be thankful for!
God bless you and all you love!
