Torch-fired enamel pendant by Barbara Lewis
Torch-fired enamel pendant by Barbara Lewis

Are you hoping to learn new jewelry techniques in 2010?  If you live anywhere near northern Virginia, I have some great news!  Barbara Lewis will be coming to the DC metropolitan area and will be teaching her popular Painting with Fire workshop!    You may be familiar with Barbara through her blog, Jewelry of Distinction,  or you may recognize her name from the current issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry.    I am thrilled to be assisting Jeanette of fundametals.net  in hosting Barbara when she comes our way soon.

In this torch-fired enamel workshop, students will learn how to operate a simple, low-cost torch.  Students will explore the process of enameling beads, and will enamel at least 40 beads and 10 pendants!  Barbara will bring various bead styles and loads of enamel colors for experimentation.  There will be an opportunity to meet new friends, as lunch will be included at the workshop. ….I know I’m looking forward to meeting a few blogging friends in person!

Painting with Fire

Sign me up!! I want to be first on the list!! I have been wanting to learn the proper way to enamel on metals for some time now. This is going to be fantastic and such a treat to look forward to after weeks and weeks of winter up here in NY.

Wish I lived anywhere close to you girls. Have fun! I love learning something new (even if I never use that knowledge because I don’t have the tools, setup, etc.)
Enjoy the day!

ME ME ME!!!!!

Erin, I’m like you….sometimes I learn something new but I don’t go on to use that technique. Oftentimes the fun is in the ride along the way…meeting new people and instructors. And even if you don’t use the new technique, chances are you picked up something new that you never knew before anyway!

We’re planning to come from Vermont on Amtrak to DC! Wouldn’t miss a chance to meet all my blogging buddies!

Cindy, I’m hoping to be able to come. Sound like it’ll be a grand time…learning a new technique and meeting new friends!

If I lived closer, I’d be there! On the good side, I’m attending an eight hour enameling workshop with Richard Salley next month at Art and Soul here in Vegas. I am excited!

I loved reading your blog. My daughter and I have been doing various “multimedia” beading for about fifteen years and found your work (and your lovely family) so inspiring. We have an Etsy site (Katsui) but nothing is there right now…

I put you on my favorites so I will be checking in!
