Scenes from the big snow!

by Cindy on February 8, 2010

What a white winter wonderland we have here!  The blizzard here on the East Coast was incredible… we were spared any power outages so far and know that we are lucky.  I feel for those nearby that did lose their power, and still are without power today.  It is COLD out!    It looks like we broke the previous record for snowfall set in 1996, with over 32 inches of snow!  The kids hustled out today leaving plates of bird food, hoping our feathered friends will find it.  Everything is buried!

Here are some photos of how we fared in the last few days.  You may be wondering what this gigantic marshmallow-looking thing is in this first photo….it’s a table out on the deck!  It’s a good representation of just how much snow we have around here!

Thank you for stopping by my chilly neck of the woods!  My next post will be the big BEAD SOUP PARTY show and tell!

Your table does look exactly like a giant marshmallow! Stay safe and warm! That really is ALOT of snow! You have us beat (and I am not jealous, not one bit)! I hope the snow goes away soon, your and ours.
Have a wonderful day (when you get up, I mean)!

I have just shown my 16 year old your photo’s. So much more snow than shes has ever experienced. Enjoy it as much as you can.

Aaaaarghhhh ! Too much snow poor Cindy, we saw the images on TV from Eastern coast of USA, that’s just incredible ! Hope everything become normal rapidly.
Take care.

I was thinking about you this weekend, knowing you were in the midst of this storm! Glad everyone is safe. Looks like the boys enjoyed all the snow.

Cindy February 8, 2010 at 7:05 am

Hi Cindy!

Glad to see you survived the snow! The kids look like they’re having a ball! It’s been quite a year for snow. Hope your electricity stayed on the whole time. It’s too cold to go without heat for any length of time. The pictures are lovely!

Happy digging!

WOW!! It really piled up!! I hope you all are able to have some fun in it. They are calling for “signifcant” snow fall in Rochester on Wednesday… my guess it won’t be nearly as much as you have!!

Jen February 8, 2010 at 8:34 am

Unbelievable! I’ve been hearing from friends and family back there about the crazy snow, but I can’t even imagine! Have fun!

mary jane dodd February 8, 2010 at 8:43 am

this has been a real winter for sure – being near the ocean, we often are on the rain/snow line – but we have gotten hit big with those 2 storms also – and again on tuesday night? wow! looking forward to bead soup…

Wow….I wouldn’t wish that snow on anyone but kids! It looks pretty, but I think it is pure evil! And soooo cold….hope you can stay warm and enjoy it somehow!

LeAnn February 8, 2010 at 10:50 am

I can not even begin to imagine that much snow. Or how to deal with it for that matter. Your little table looks like an angel food cake with coconut frosting. Glad you haven’t lost power. I’ve been thinking about all of those folks out there.

Doreen February 8, 2010 at 11:48 am

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Hope you guys are keeping warm! Thank you for your comment on my new banner. As you can see, I like to play around with Photoshop. I get bored with my blog page in about a minute. BTW, I just had to say that I think you have the cutest kids!

Judy Glende February 8, 2010 at 11:55 am

I remember the days of lots of snow…I sure do not miss it! The kids look like they are having so much fun and the pictures are wonderful!

Lyn Foley February 8, 2010 at 11:57 am

Wow Cindy, what a challenge! I’ve been thinking about you ever since I heard the snow news the other day. I guess life is about snow, and not much else. Glad to hear the power stayed on!!

Juliette February 8, 2010 at 12:14 pm

Glad you and your family are doing alright – isn’t the snow incredible, it turns everything into ‘something else’! 🙂

Carol Bradley February 8, 2010 at 12:15 pm

That is amazing. Great pics, though! Thanks for showing us what “real” snow looks like.

Carolyn Mallin February 8, 2010 at 12:20 pm

Wow!!! I haven’t seen that much snow in a long time. Fun for the kids–they look happy in the photos. Stay safe and warm. Before you know it we’ll be complaining about how hot it is.

Sally February 8, 2010 at 1:32 pm

Cindy,
Oh, the snow looks so pretty. We ended up not even getting a flake! But we are on the hit list for Wednesday, calling for 7 inches, which doesn’t even compare to the amount that you got. Stay warm!

Oh. Dear. Lord.

That’s A LOT of snow >.<
It looks so gorgeous but looks can definitely be deceiving. LOL At least your kids had a great time playing in it-I remember my sister and I at that age LOVED to get on our gear and play in the snow 🙂

Keep warm!

I’ve been surprised more than once this winter by how much snow my friends in more southern states have gotten. In northern NJ, we have been passed over a few times. Sat, we were supposed to get 3-6″ and got nothing while at the Jersey shore, they got almost 2′. We are supposed to get 12-18″ Tues into Wed and I am really hoping it all hits in such a way that I get at least one snow day out of it. Hope you are all still warm, toasty and lighted.

Kathy February 8, 2010 at 9:18 pm

Looks like all the snow we already have and we are supposed to get more. THere is no where to put all of it. I hope it melts slow. If it melts fast we are in trouble.
Stay warm. Very nice pics.

We were extremely happy in upstate NY to be spared of snow. We are quite content just watching it from afar! Stay warm!

Shelby February 8, 2010 at 10:06 pm

Wow Cindy you really got a lot of snow! We got a lot too but not as much as you guys did. And now they are calling for 10″ more starting tomorrow afternoon! I truly love the snow but we’re working on our third straight week of NO school!! It’s like summer vacation in the middle of winter…Looks like the kids enjoyed the snow! Do they make boots for snow that deep?

Big Bro Mike February 8, 2010 at 11:37 pm

Awesome pics! Wish we were there to soak it all in with you all! 🙂

Jennifer Dixon February 9, 2010 at 1:09 pm

Hi Cindy-Thanks for leaving the nice comments on my blog about my little studio. Such great photos of all the snow and are those your cute kids? The photo of the Honda almost completely covered with snow is hilarious! That’s how it’s been for us this Winter as well and I can’t park in my garage because it’s been turned into a workshop for the construction. Hang in there-Spring will be here soon! 🙂

Lori Anderson February 10, 2010 at 12:06 am

That last photo looks like a great Christmas photo!

Madeline February 11, 2010 at 12:27 pm

LOVE the photo of the boys in their red jackets against the snow, bare tree branches and the gorgeous sky! You should enter that photo into a photo contest!!! They look like “human cardinals (the bird kind)” playing in the snow and trees! Thanks for posting. We got about 5 inches Tuesday into Wednesday! Pretty good for Michigan!
