Are you experiencing a little “Indian” summer too? The weather here has been nothing short of glorious with temperatures in the 70’s. I know though that this is not the case for everyone. Recently, my friend Renate showed piles of firewood on her blog, and spoke of the first frost there in Germany. Brrr! Right now we are in the midst of pumpkin JOY and everywhere you look you can see Fall-hued leaves at their peak. Speaking of pumpkins, we’ve already brought home pumpkin pie and chocolate chip pecan pies this season…. it can’t be helped when you live close enough to a Mom’s Apple Pie!
This time I am going to tie my post back to JEWELRY; it’s about time I did! I don’t think I ever showed you a full shot of the completed ArtBLISS leaf charm swap bracelet. Inspired by Fall, I had to bring it out….
I had extras of my charms so I went to work making another charm bracelet. When it came time to take a picture, I looked through my shelf of antique books, looking for just the right prop. The gilded pages and words on “The Girlhood of Shakespeare’s Heroines” by Mary Cowden Clarke caught my eye (1809 -98)…click here to see a giclee on canvas version. I pulled this one out and leafed through its pages again, remembering why I was drawn to this book (for a mere $3.00, bought over the summer) in the first place. This book is so much more than a prop. It develops the characters of many of Shakespeare’s heroines in accounts of their formative years. What really pulled on my heartstrings was the inscription I found when I opened the tattered book, “To Mary Harnett on her 78th Birthday from her affectionate Brother, Alfred Otho, 3rd Feby, 1881”. Just priceless. As are the beautiful pictures of Shakespeare’s heroines, from Juliet to Beatrice (this was my Aunt’s name although she went by Penny).
For my charm bracelet, I included ceramic beads, lampwork, and handforged copper and brass charms all on a nice, heavy copper chain. Talk about a pretty jingling sound! This will be available on Etsy soon. Sold, thank you!

I traditionally work with sterling silver and copper, but I’ve been adding more and more brass lately. Brass has such a beautiful, rich tone to it….and speaking of brass, have you seen Diane Cook’s “With one Finding” challenge on the Brass Bouquet Designs blog? If not, head on over! Diane would love to see what you’ve created with brass components from BB*D…..we all would! There’s a surprise drawing in store! Even if you do not share a brass piece, you can be entered to win the give away if you post a link to the challenge on your blog, and leave a comment that you did so on the challenge post. I hope many of you decide to play!
Have a wonderful FALL day, and thank you for stopping by today!

Oh how I LOVE fall… we have been having an Indian Summer too. The weather has been a bit odd. It was near 80 yesterday. I saw that post from Renate.. brrrr is right…. but I LOVE winter too, so I say… bring it on!
What a lovely book. The inscription is amazing. I have a few books like that and I just cherish them. oohhhh the history that they hold. The images of the heroines are gorgeous. Wouldn’t you love to go back in time and just spend a few days all dressed up like that?? wonderful!
I LOVE the bracelet. It is perfect for fall and showcases some truly lovely charms 🙂
Lovely pictures, we are having exceptional fall weather over here lots of sunshine some rain, but everything smells so wonderful in the garden, leaves are turning and scented cyclamen are out its great!
I love books and lots of old ones handed down through the family but that Shakespeare is such a warm looking well used old book what a treasure! It looks wonderful with your beautiful bracelet.
I found your blog through my friend Lori at Pretty Things
Beautifu pictures! I’d love to visit that sweet little bakery–but that might be dangerous.
We’ve had a lovely autumn here, clear skies, bright moon, sparkly stars, and gorgeous fall colors. I still haven’t gotten any pumpkins to decorate with. So late this year with being sick, but I’m about to remedy that this week.
Your charm bracelets are just gorgeous!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
So many beautiful things in one post i don’t know what to comment on first! The bracelet turned out so pretty, I need to get mine put together still. We have been having very warm weather, as a matter of fact I had to turn the air on last night to be able to sleep, unheard of for this time of year! The book is such a find and you’re right, the inscription makes it priceless! Since I have started back on the treadmill I’m glad we DON’T have a Mom’s Apple Pies nearby! Lovely post.
I love the colors of Fall and you captured them so nicely! I love the charm bracelets, they have so much character! I hope you were able to enjoy some of Mom’s Apple pie!!
That is the most amazing bracelet — and such awesome photography!
Great pieces & I think I’ll check out that challenge too!

And, yep, who could resist sampling a few pies from a cute place like that! 🙂 The fall is beautiful in Virginia! 🙂 Happy to see “you”, too!! 🙂 We had many tornado warnings yesterday so I’m happy to be “storm free” today and notice that the temp is much cooler!! 🙂 Your fall bracelet is just gorgeous!! I love all these jewels you are sharing in this post!!
Waving hello from Lori Anderson’s blog. Love your designs.
We, too, have been having somewhat of an Indian Summer with temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s if we’re lucky-I think it’s only gotten down to 20 or 30 MAYBE once or twice since Fall hit!
Those are gorgeous pictures-I absolutely love Fall xD
Man, I think I’m going to need to visit because you and I have some of the same interests-Antiquing, jewelry…
And that bracelet is just amazing 🙂
I love those bracelets, Cindy! And that book! Oh, what a wonderful find! It’s prefect for a prop, but it’s such a fantastic thing to have in your library, too.

Oh, Cindy, both pieces are just AWESOME!
I love autumn, and seeing all the pumpkins lying around…we went and picked a few this past weekend as well, but haven’t gotten around to shooting them. Love your ArtBliss bracelet…I am ashamed to say mine is still not put together :(…maybe this weekend! I also love, love, love your other charm bracelet…I bet the sound it makes is also beautiful!
I love both bracelets but the “Shakespeare’s Heroines” bracelet is my absolute fav! It just looks like it would be lovely to wear! So balanced — your work is amazing!
Oh, Cindy….I do love your copper chain bracelet, with all those gorgeous elements you’ve used. The colors will be wonderful for any fall outfit!
I have been using more and more brass and bronze since the beginning of the year. I love the way it looks with vintage rhinestones, and gives such a rich tone to a piece =) I know you will love using it!
Your autumn splendor shots are beautiful ~ as always =))
Gorgeous photos!! (as always!) The Pie place is decked out perfectly! Wow!!!
LOVE all of the fall color right now. It is perfect, as are your brass bracelets. Please let me know when you have them on your etsy, ok? The book is priceless and is just the right touch for your photo vignettes. Don’t you just love old books?
You had asked about the runner – how so sweet of you to want to purchase one. If you could email me with your pay pal email address and I can send you an request for payment there. Cindy, thank you! I have one left, too.
((hugs))

Both the bracelets are wonderful Cindy! The weather…well a little too warm for me, I had to turn the A/C back on, but I’m looking forward to fall returning tomorrow. As for the pie…good thing I don’t live close to such a place…I LOVE pie.
