Any one hear of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Beads??
Yes, You got it! I AM talking about that amazing Give Away initiated by Heather Powers of Humblebeads. Heather gathered up ALL sorts of beads from her studio, and put them up for grabs in a give away that is like a bead round robin – truly a creative idea. The beads were packaged up in a medium flat rate box (it has now grown to a large flat rate box!) and sent to the give away winner. The winner then picks whatever they desire from the box, and then replaces them with beads of comparable value. This is the Sisterhood of the Traveling Beads . I am excited to report that I am the 11th to join the Sisterhood. 🙂

I was so happy to find something else tucked in the box…something just for me. It was my order of Becky’s new Gritty Beads. Among all of the other amazing things that she creates, Becky now handcrafts her own paperclay beads. The colors are right up my alley. You can pick your favorite color, right here in her shop! Oh, and just look at Becky’s beautiful packaging – I love the free-form stitching. If you’d like to see more of Becky’s stitching, you’ll want to check out the current issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry. Now onto that box…. thank heavens it arrived safe and sound! I was so worried that maybe one of the mail carriers would just so happen to be a beader and try to snag the big glorious thing for themselves! 🙂
I just know that you are going to have a great turn out for the next Sisterhood Giveaway. 🙂 It was such a wonderful idea and I can’t thank Heather enough for starting it.
Now you just need to find a quiet place and go through each baggie full of beads and find your special treasures…. oh… it is going to be so much fun for you!

It is truly stunning where this act of kindness and generosity that Heather started (what, a year ago now?) has been all these many months. How cool to watch it travel the country. I hope there is a map inside there. Can’t wait to see what you pick!

I am trying to find out the paint that Becky Caldwell uses that I saw on her Gritty Bird website. However, I am not finding her website anymore. It was several months ago. It was a beautiful milk paint that she was using on some of her furniture pieces. If you might know the name of the paint, I would be grateful if you could email me with the information.
