Did you happen to hear? Winter descended upon us late this afternoon with a vengeance. The DC area experienced what they are calling “thundersnow” and “thundersleet”…it was incredible. Flashes of blue in the night sky while the snow came down. Rush hour was a nightmare. When my husband attempted to come home for the second time, it took him 3 hours. The pictures in this Washington Post gallery capture the chaos. The kids will finally don their snowsuits tomorrow and grab their sleds. Finally a good reason for that steep hill in our backyard.
I have a few pictures of jewelry that I can show, after mailing off pieces that won’t be revealed until later this year. My custom order is complete for a very, very patient special customer. For this first bracelet, I recreated my Classic Charm Bracelet…just in time for Valentine’s Day. For the backdrop, I used a nostalgic postcard sent from a soldier in France. I love the embroidery and the touch of Red, White, and Blue.
This next bracelet is such a contrast to the weather today. I recall our summer days spent at the beach …… here a mix of ocean charms and Swarovski crystals complement Shannon Westmeyer’s beautiful white lampwork beads. On a day like today, thoughts of warm weather sure seem wonderful.
I had some fun editing these pictures – with the help of my friend and mentor, Diane Cook. I cherish her friendship since we “met” almost 2 years ago. I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll finally meet in person later this year. 🙂
Stay warm and thanks for stopping by!

wow cindy!! what a nightmare!! i hope things will be better now. lovely bracelets, and very strong postacard.
OMGosh – stay safe and warm, Cindy! I agree with Esther – what a nightmare.
Love the bracelets – especially the second one.
I totally understand. It took my DH 2 hours for his normal 1 hour commute home. I don’t think that we had the “storm” part of it though. Glad everyone is safe! The bracelets are so lovely! Gotta love the summer one though.
I wish I could have seen the storm! We didn’t get anything like that, but the wind picked up here something awful at around 5ish. Today they’re calling for clear skies. Thank goodness! I’ve been dealing with a head cold lately, and with the rain? Yikes. I’m glad your husband made it home safe!
We had the thundersleet and lightning but only a dusting of snow Thankfully! I am SO over winter this year! I love the summery bracelet. Did you sign up for the big picture classes going manual? If so I’ll see you there!
Beautiful pieces you created! I am in love with those lampwork beads!!!!!
I’m so ready for spring as the snow from the last two storms never seems to go away. I’ll get a taste of good weather next week when I head to San Diego.
Take care and be safe.
I’ve just been looking at the photos of your snow. It’s hard to imagine this much snow, let alone twice in not so very long.
Your bracelets are beautiful. I love the lightness of colour in them.
Stay warm and toasty!
I have been thinking of you and wishing you a warm slew of days to melt the mighty mountains of snow! I live with snow for 5 months out of the year and this is a lot of snow! Stay safe and warm. Enjoy the day. Erin

More snow, yikes! Where are they going to put it? Love the bracelets, sparkly and so charming!
I love, love those lampwork beads! Diane Cook…hummm…is that a hint?
Luck us this time, we didn’t get the snow, barely a dusting. Have a great day and stay warm!
I have met Diane Cook in person and she is absolutely PRECIOUS! I am taking two of her jewelry classes at Adorn Me in Houston next month. Your heart bracelet would go well with my heart necklace on my blog a couple of days ago at http://www.queenmarcyoriginals.typepad.com. I see your notice about ArtBliss with Stephanie Lee? I am also taking classes with her! Have you ever had one of her classes? I hear she is awesome! Are you going to Adorn Me?

I think we have had a snow angel here …it seems we have missed most bad weather systems and even the schools have not missed a day. Sitting here in Iowa that is something…..hopefully the angel will stay around for Feb and March! Beautiful work of course…I wish I was closer….. the links on the classic charm are really nice..some chain like this caught my eye the other day. Stay warm and safe!
gorgeous bracelets Cindy i especially love the sea inspired one
I honestly can’t wait until Winter is OVER! Although, I can say I would have loved to witness that thunder snow-I have yet to see it in action even though we’ve had a TON of snow the past couple of weeks.
At least your kids are making the most of it though!! 🙂
Those bracelets are just gorgeous Cindy! I love the classic look of the first one and of course the second makes me long for warmer weather.
What a great reminder every time you wear a bracelet like that xD
My friend’s trip home from Leesburg to Stafford, took her 11 hours last night instead of the 1 and 1/2 hours. She was miserable!!! Hope you were able to stay in and stay warm today :).
OH MY! I hope that you all have stayed warm! That is hot chocolate and marshmallow weather. 🙂 I love your classic charm bracelets. They are too cute!
I can’t wait to see what you are up to!
I feel for you and the family having such freezing weather. I lived back east as a child and of course as a child loved the snow. I’m sure your kids are having fun sliding, building snowmen and throwing snowballs. Your bracelets are sweet and am sure will be loved by their owners. Diane is a dear isn’t she…I just love her. Stay warm and safe my friend.
Hugs
Diana
Muwahahahaha…..I laugh in the general direction of your weather…. I am in Ct and as of right now there is at least 30+ frozen inches on the ground….ten/twelve footpiles in the street and more on the way. We haven’t had a full week of school since Christmas and I’m starting to eye the guinea pigs as food. It’s not good to be locked in the house with 5 boys – including my husband. I’m feeling a little Jack Nicholson coming on…….. Oh but the bracelets are great!
Sooo beautiful Cindy..I cant pick a favorite..Stay warm and safe!!Big Hugs,Cat
Charm bracelets are my favorite bracelets to wear. They are both lovely, Cindy!
I love both of the bracelets Cindy! Your classic charm bracelet is divine, and I am sure your special person will love it =)) And, the ocean charms on the next bracelet sure caught my eye, as I have always loved starfish and sea horses!
Your pictures are great Cindy….you go girl =))

Thanks for sharing you thoughts and work. I truly believe in using something old to make something new and you are a great example of a recycler.
