i heart macro {celebrating with cake!}

Better late to the party than not at all!  I’m talking “i heart macro” Sundays with Lori  of Studio Waterstone.  Visit her blog if you haven’t already done so and you’ll see so many examples of amazing photography!

My pictures today are from my 6 year old’s Cub Scout end-of-the-year party.  With summer vacation just around the corner (thank goodness), I decorated a cake in the ultimate summer theme – the sea!  I had some fun with rolled fondant and whatever I could add to top off the cake.  It seems one of my boys ate the entire bag of Swedish fish, or they would have been swimming in the frosting as well.  I took a bit of creative license here as the pictures are on the “close-up” side as opposed to real macro shots.

It seems like yesterday I was sending you an email about the virtues of unstructured summertime fun with your children! How did that happen? A year’s gone by! The cake is wonderful …. and I don’t blame your son for eating the Swedish fish! yum!

So cute! You did a fabulous job on that cake! I’ll bet it was gobbled up in no time.

Your macro pics are great. One of these days when I have the time I’m going to try my hand at macro again. It looks like fun.

Have a wonderful week!

You are so creative! Love the cake! I rediscovered swedish fish a couple of years ago and kept a bag near me everywhere I was and before long they were completely attached to my hips! I’m afraid to even have one now, I know it’ll start the addiction all over!
