Getting away from it all

by Cindy on January 30, 2012

We’re back from a great long weekend – filled with family time and snow.  We stole away to the slopes where we spent time together – skiing and tubing.  The cousins were reunited and the younger ones skied for the first time.  Lots of photo moments for me and my trusty camera!

These two are just 8 days apart – real partners in crime.

 More cousins!

Goin’ for a ride!

My Dad and brother.

 PopPop the ski instructor.

Now it’s back to reality, but our hearts are filled with many new memories.

Thank you for stopping by!

-Cindy

Those 2 little ones are adorable!!! Won’t they have fun growing up together. Your trip looks fun. Love the snow/slopes but can’t ski. I found out a long time ago that wasn’t the sport for me. I finally got to to Fredericksburg Friday in the 70 degree weather. It was so much fun. Our trip was postponed from 2 weeks ago as my husband had a mild heart attack. Very scary for both of us but fortunately they didn’t have to do any procedures and there was no damage. A big wake up call though – no more cigars for him and better eating habits and exercise for both of us – our poor dog is going to get walked so much!! Jewelry question for you-do you use a dapping tool and if so, it it the wooden kind or metal. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Lovely snaps Cindy! All the kids (young and old :-)) look like they had a brilliant time. I’ve never been skiing, the idea of sliding down a mountain terrifies me somewhat!

Oh what fun!! I see you are having the same problem as our slopes–not very much snow—they are having to make it. I tried it once and decided I would rather go sledding…..we played too this weekend..both of us sick people took a car drive for some antiquing and history lessons. Hoping to get back to playing with my treasures.

Your pictures are always postcard perfect!! You seem to have the most amazing family times together, be it antiquing or skiing! I always try to pick put my favorite photo that you share…I can’t this time because you can see the joy on everyone’s face-adults and children alike! Thanks for sharing these precious photos!

Looks like a fun place! Is it in Virginia? A day spent hitting the slopes, or bunny hill in my case, sounds like fun!

It looks like you had a fantastic weekend! As much as I love living in the UK I do envy you being so close to ski resorts. I know my boys would absolutely love it, even if I’m the world’s worst skier!

Great pictures Cindy! We’re headed to the slopes ourselves on Feb 11th – cant wait!

It looks there was fun had by all. I love the photo of the two partners in crime, that sure put a smile on my face. You all look like you had fun and I am so jealous 😉 It has been years and years and years since I went skiing and that brought back a lot of good memories.
Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week!

Welcome home! From the fabulous photos it looks like you had a great time! I love seeing families get together, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, grandparents. After loosing two beloved family members last year I feel that pull to spend more time with those who are still with us.

I’ve never wanted to ski, but my kids love it! Looks like your boys will be experts in no time!

So fun Cindy! My husband was in Vail last week and got a day of skiing in. All he has talked about for the last five days is how we need to get the kids out on the slopes! It looks like it was so much fun and how great to do it with your Dad and brother and the cousins. You pictures are really nice!

These are great pictures, Cindy! Those two same age boys look more like brothers than cousins (even w/ the red-headed difference). They are all so adorable. You must have had a great time. Surprised you could find snow given the heat wave this country is experiencing!!

Ohmigosh, this looks like an AWESOME time, Cindy!! Look at all of the smiles on everyone’s faces. You deserved it, a total weekend of fun!

What fun this trip must have been!! And a gorgeous family to boot! The one and only time I went skiing, it was more like butt sliding instead….the bunny hills looked too huge for me to manage so I just scooted all the way back to the lodge. I was 37 at the time. I think teaching kids to ski early is the trick to fun skiing as an adult.

How wonderful to get away!! I was really feeling the need the other day and the kids and I went on a beach picnic…and I felt soooo much better when we came home…Aaaa…thanks for sharing your beautiful family with us sweet Cindy!! Hugs,Cat

You have really captured some stunning images and very dramatic! Your photography has been steadily improving and it’s such a treat for you to share your life with us this way. As usual, I love seeing the kids’ photos. I find it amazing how many redheads there are in your family! The ski area should hire you as the resident photographer!

Love the photos of your skiing weekend. It is so amazing that you can go to the shore or the snowy mountains from where you live!! I would always choose the shore. You sure know how to make life fun for your family!!

Oh, what beautiful and fun memories you all made! I love that you and your brother have boys so close in age and can just imagine how much fun they all have together! So glad to see that you all had such a great time, and of course, you got the cutest pics of your adorable boys!!

All I can say is WOW! That MUST have been simply amazing, not only getting away for a little while, but being able to ski AND have a family reunion…I’m slightly jealous over here xD

Although I probably would have broken something if I attempted to ski! LOL

I can really see the family resemblance between you, your brother and your dad-It’s uncanny 🙂
