Here I am, happy to be back posting a little update.\u00a0 I thought I\u2019d share a little of the happenings around here from the past week.\u00a0 School is out for summer in our house!<\/p>\n

On the last day of school, I volunteered to help in my 2nd grader\u2019s End of the Year party\u2026it was a bug theme.\u00a0 The cupcakes were so easy, I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve seen this idea around somewhere if you have little ones.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know what it is, but kids just love gummi worms.\u00a0 My son had to memorize and recite a new poem every month in his reading class this past year.\u00a0 As an incentive, the students could earn a gummi worm if they recited their poem before the last day of the month.\u00a0 This little motivator really worked!<\/p>\n

One of the Moms owns a paint-your-own pottery shop and she brought in a great project. Each of the children signed their names on a plate as a special keepsake of their classmates.<\/p>\n

Lacrosse season has come to an end as well.\u00a0 What a short season compared to baseball!\u00a0 The coach had a pool party at his house to celebrate.<\/p>\n

The camps that we signed up for do not start for a few weeks so we paid a visit to our pool (we can now walk to it!) and also broke out with the kiddie pool in my parent\u2019s back yard.\u00a0\u00a0 A little bit of water is all the boys need to have some fun.<\/p>\n

I squeezed in some time to do one of my favorite things\u2026.yes, it involved beads and a flea market.\u00a0 The DC Big Flea came to the Expo Center again (it\u2019s really just full of antique vendors).\u00a0 Believe it or not the boys really enjoy going\u2026all except my oldest son.\u00a0 He just cannot get in to it and it is pure torture for him.\u00a0 My 7 year old could go for hours searching for treasures, just like me.\u00a0 He found an old crucifix that was broken, but he was drawn to it and wanted to bring it home.\u00a0 I found some beautiful, old things.<\/p>\n

Can you believe ladies would wear these screw-on style earrings?\u00a0\u00a0 If you look closely, one side of the earring actually comes to a point\u2026so uncomfortable!\u00a0 I know my Grandmother had some of these.\u00a0 Maybe those clip ons were worse, you remember, the kind that made your ear lobes hurt as soon as you took them off!\u00a0 This lone orphan earring was sparkly and so pretty though so I added it to my stash.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite finds is this mother of pearl necklace.\u00a0\u00a0 The irregular shaped beads have a sort of patina that you would never find on a brand new set of beads.<\/p>\n
