{"id":1326,"date":"2009-06-19T01:28:27","date_gmt":"2009-06-19T05:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=1326"},"modified":"2009-06-19T01:28:27","modified_gmt":"2009-06-19T05:28:27","slug":"recent-jewelry-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=1326","title":{"rendered":"Recent Jewelry Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I&#8217;ve been working on a project or two here and there, although it may take me forever to show them.\u00a0\u00a0 It seems to be getting harder and harder to squeeze in time to make jewelry&#8230;I just try to be patient with how long it takes me now to complete something once I start it!<\/p>\n<p>Last month I created a bracelet for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundametals.net\/\">fundametal.net&#8217;s <\/a>copper washer design contest.\u00a0 It&#8217;s amazing what you can do with a simple metal washer.\u00a0 My husband rolls his eyes in disbelief when I get excited to hit the hardware store for something to use in my jewelry&#8230;.copper tubing, stainless steel wire (could not find this at Home Depot though), and other little doo dads.\u00a0 Did I say doo dads&#8230;.hmm,\u00a0 not like me.\u00a0 The good thing is, you don&#8217;t have to take a trip to the hardware store to pick up a nifty box of assorted copper washers&#8230;.they are on <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">sale <\/span>at fundametal.net and you can just place an order without leaving home (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundametals.net\/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=57&amp;products_id=234\">see them here<\/a>).\u00a0 The washers come in a nice little storage box too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1327   aligncenter\" title=\"copper-washer-submission\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/copper-washer-submission.jpg\" alt=\"copper-washer-submission\" width=\"500\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/copper-washer-submission.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/copper-washer-submission-300x211.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/copper-washer-submission-450x316.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For this bracelet design I created &#8220;love knots&#8221; from sterling silver wire.\u00a0 I\u00a0layered two sizes of washers and texturized the smaller washer to add contrast.\u00a0 The washers were easily oxidized along with the silver with liver of sulphur.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This next piece was a gift for a very special teacher.\u00a0 My preschooler had the most incredible speech therapist this year, someone he looked forward to seeing every Thursday.\u00a0 I think he thought of their sessions as a playdate really because he had so much fun while he was learning.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t think of the right gift for her&#8230;she really deserved something one-of-a-kind so I decided it had to be <em>handmade.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1328  aligncenter\" title=\"teachers-rule-for-ms\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/teachers-rule-for-ms. shannon\" alt=\"teachers-rule-for-ms\" width=\"450\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/teachers-rule-for-ms.%20shannon 450w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/teachers-rule-for-ms-300x292.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t seem to get enough stamping with metal these days as you&#8217;ll see in this next piece.\u00a0 Remember my recent post about Cynthia Thornton&#8217;s upcoming book, <em>Enchanted Adornments<\/em>?\u00a0\u00a0 Andrew Thornton (her sweet brother) announced a design competition in honor of the book.\u00a0 The jewelry for this challenge must be either a mixed media piece or utilize a Green Girl Studios product.\u00a0 I combined a GGS pewter coral branch with handstamped charms, Hilltribe silver and Swarovski crystals.\u00a0 The easy, breezy &#8220;Sea Dreams&#8221;
