Hello!<\/p>\n

All it took was the power of suggestion. \u00a0Well it may have been a bit more than that – we had been hearing all<\/em> about Jamestown<\/a>, the first permanent English Colony, for weeks. \u00a0 My 4th grader’s class had been studying Jamestown in-depth as part of their Virginia history unit. \u00a0We love trips down to this part of Virginia (posts here<\/a>, here <\/a>and here<\/a>) so we decided to head south and go for the weekend. \u00a0With Thanksgiving coming up this week, I thought it might be nice share pictures from the land discovered in 1607, 13 years before the pilgrims arrived in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The English colonists made the 4 1\/2-month transatlantic voyage on 3 ships. \u00a0Here is a re-creation of the Susan Constant.<\/p>\n

We love to pick up lunch for a picnic at the Cheese Shop<\/a> in Merchant Square. \u00a0This sweet Westie sure completes the picture.<\/p>\n

“Like a kid in a candy shop!” \u00a0 No trip is complete without stopping at Wythe’s.<\/p>\n

\u00a0We were fortunate that there happened to be Revolutionary War reenactments taking place throughout downtown Williamsburg<\/p>\n
