<\/a><\/a>It’s fun to hear what everyone’s been reading this summer.\u00a0 I’ve visited a number of blogs that share their favorite “beach book”.\u00a0 To fill you in on what I’ve been reading, it starts with chocolate.\u00a0 Now that shouldn’t come as a surprise!\u00a0 Today I opened up an old favorite that I’ve had since 1992<\/em>….<\/p>\n

\"Ben<\/p>\n

tadaaaa!\u00a0 It’s Ben and Jerry’s cookbook.<\/a>\u00a0 This is where you’ll find my favorite brownie recipe…I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before.\u00a0 Today the kids and I baked\u00a0a batch of absolutely delicious gooey brownies.\u00a0\u00a0You probably have all the staples already to whip up your own – just eggs, butter, unsweetened chocolate, vanilla extract, flour and sugar.<\/p>\n

Now as far as beach reads go (and I literally read them at the beach, or once the kids went to bed really)….a few favorites are\u00a0“The Double Bind”, “Friday Night Knitting Club”, and “The Art of Keeping Secrets”.\u00a0 My favorite book in this bunch was “Friday Night Knitting Club”.\u00a0 Now if it were about a bunch of beading ladies, I could have really understood the lingo.\u00a0 My husband saw me reading this book and didn’t understand why I wasn’t reading something more like “Harry Potter”.\u00a0 You have to admit, the title alone doesn’t sound appealing.<\/p>\n

\"July<\/p>\n

Last but not least\u00a0– my latest stash of jewelry design magazines.\u00a0 Hmmm, notice how the covers are all white for the summer.\u00a0 I’ve had to catch up since I’ve been away from creating jewelry for quite some time.\u00a0 Here are a few thoughts on these issues:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Creative Jewelry…<\/em>although this one is on the more basic technique side, I had to pick it up because it features a tutorial on Kab’s Concepts <\/a>latest “Snagged” style necklace.\u00a0 I love the great big disc used as a toggle clasp.<\/p>\n

Kerry will be making these cool lampwork focal\/toggles available soon so we can make our own.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Stringing…<\/em>as usual this one showcases such incredible talent in jewelry design.\u00a0 I flip through this and think, “wow, why didn’t I <\/em>think of that?!”\u00a0\u00a0This one leaves you feeling inspired to create something different.<\/p>\n

\u00a03.\u00a0 Step by Step Beads…<\/em>My favorite piece in this one is by Christine Strube titled “Coral Reef”.\u00a0 I created my own simplified version of this and jumped back in to creating jewelry once more after my long break.\u00a0 Picture to come.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 Bell Armoire Jewelry…<\/em>This one is packed from start to finish with\u00a0unparalleled creativity.\u00a0 Wirework, mixed media, PMC, lampwork, it’s all in here in ways I’ve never seen before.\u00a0 Definitely right up there with Step by Step Wire<\/em> and Stringing as<\/em> my favorite magazine!\u00a0 One of my favorite artists, Deryn Mentock <\/a>is featured with an article on creating ear wires.\u00a0 I can’t wait until the next issue comes out in September.\u00a0 Actually, I can wait.\u00a0 I DON’T want to rush summer!<\/p>\n
