{"id":4474,"date":"2010-10-21T14:30:13","date_gmt":"2010-10-21T18:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=4474"},"modified":"2010-10-21T14:30:13","modified_gmt":"2010-10-21T18:30:13","slug":"tarnished-and-treasured-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=4474","title":{"rendered":"Tarnished and Treasured {Part 2}"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4482\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=4482\"><\/a>Hello!<\/p>\n<p>Where was I?\u00a0 Oh yes, in my last post I told you I&#8217;d fill you in on the treasure I took home!\u00a0 It&#8217;s funny because it was one of the very first things I saw when I went in to the antique\/salvage shop, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=D&amp;q=http:\/\/www.housewerksalvage.com\/&amp;usg=AFQjCNGFY_pPzI4HJQhjKmD--6Nv5sAJeA\">Housewerks<\/a>.\u00a0 I was immediately drawn to something so humble but recognizably a\u00a0treasure.\u00a0 I just knew it would be too expensive though so I just moved on.\u00a0\u00a0 I later met\u00a0up with my husband after milling about separately (after all, he was slowed down with the baby!), and he told me that there was this great piece that I just had to see.\u00a0 I knew we had seen the same thing.\u00a0 When I went back upstairs to give it a second look, there was a buyer with her tape measure out giving it the once-over.\u00a0 It was one of those sweet pieces that go fast&#8230;.an old chest taken right out of a 100 year old + drug store!\u00a0 Here it is, our chest from the James Drug Co&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4475\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=4475\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4475  aligncenter\" title=\"james-drug-co\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/james-drug-co.jpg\" alt=\"james-drug-co\" width=\"475\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/james-drug-co.jpg 475w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/james-drug-co-150x108.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/james-drug-co-300x216.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>How many times have you found an antique and wondered where it came from, or who owned it?\u00a0 This was such a rare incidence that we were told exactly where this piece came from and a bit of its history.\u00a0 Recently, the James Drug Co. (also known as the James Pharmacy) building was bought so they moved right next door.\u00a0 During the move several fixtures were sold &#8211; fixtures that have been there most likely since the store opened in 1900.\u00a0 What caught my eye first are the amazing drawer pulls.\u00a0 Yes, they are covered in paint, but I can see the detailed beauty beneath the layers.\u00a0 And the pull-out counter used for mixing medicine.\u00a0\u00a0 There were old paper labels here and there in the drawers that stated &#8220;Poison&#8221;, or &#8220;Keep in a cool place&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0We were so <strong>lucky<\/strong> to fit this in the back of our SUV.\u00a0 There was not a 1\/2&#8243;
