Happy New Year!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Here is my group of “boys” ringing in the new year, holding their new nutcrackers.\u00a0 Yes, we let the kids stay up til midnight for the first time.\u00a0 Boy were they wired and not the least bit sleepy!<\/p>\n

The past 2 weeks were filled with lots of family time.\u00a0 My parents and sister took my two older sons skiing (gotta post a picture of that!), and all the while I was able to spend time time with my brother and his family who flew in from CA.\u00a0 It was so much fun to meet my new nephew who just turned 3 months old today.\u00a0 Here are the two peas in a pod, cousins just 8 days apart.\u00a0 Look at all that chub going on. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

On Friday night we drove to Baltimore for a dinner with friends of the family who have been like family for as far back as I can remember.\u00a0 It’s been a number of years since I saw most of the Parks family so it was such a nice reunion.\u00a0 Between my brother’s family and mine, there were the additional 10 of us joining their large group\u00a0for a fun evening of conversation and reminiscing.\u00a0 Well, when I say conversation, I have to admit my poor husband never made it to the “adults” table from the “kiddie” table as my kids were rambunctious to say the least.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the drive home, there tucked in my basket\u00a0I found a\u00a0package of Berger<\/a>\u00a0cookies.\u00a0 Thank you for that sweet surprise, Helen!\u00a0 Now I grew up through the years visiting my Grandmother in Baltimore, even went to college there…somehow I missed these renowned Baltimore treats.\u00a0 The cookies are topped with a\u00a0massive\u00a0dollop of frosting,\u00a0thick like fudge. Oh. my. goodness. these. are. good<\/em>.\u00a0 As soon as my husband took one bite, he said “Okay, you’re going to have to get on the internet to order some of these!”\u00a0 It turns out they’re sold at places like the local Royal Farms or Giant store.\u00a0 When I searched online, I was very pleased to find a few recipes for these cookies.\u00a0 You can check\u00a0out the recipes\u00a0here<\/a> and here<\/a>…at least indulge me and check out those yummy photos!<\/p>\n

Now speaking of the wonderful Parks family, I received a\u00a0sweet surprise in the mail this past week.\u00a0 Madeline sent a beautiful crocheted blanket, sweater and bonnet set for the baby.\u00a0 This dear woman has sent one for each of my four sons.\u00a0 And she was crocheting double time as she sent one to my brother’s baby just weeks before!\u00a0 Such a wonderful keepsake.<\/p>\n

The next day I received another sweet gift, this time from my friend Kerry<\/a> up in NY.\u00a0 She’s given me hints that she was up to something, making a little welcome gift for the baby. Boy was I surprised to open the box and find this beautiful crib quilt!\u00a0 She used\u00a0Amy Butler <\/a>fabric in some of my absolute favorite colors.\u00a0 She sure has a way of putting together patterns…it looks retro and modern at the same time.\u00a0 Thank you, Kerry!!! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Well that’s all of the latest for now…I enjoyed sharing them with you.\u00a0 Now it’s back to the grindstone….back to school tomorrow and back to our routines.\u00a0 It was so good while it lasted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
