The 25 Things list has gone around the blog scene for some time.\u00a0 Recently I’ve been tagged on Facebook (thanks Andrea, Anne, Cheryl, Madeline and Brian!).\u00a0 Rather than tagging more people, I thought I’d share a little more about me right here.\u00a0 This is not anything deep and philosophical, just random tid bits about me.\u00a0 The most important part of me can be summed up in the picture right here (sorry Randy, you’re included even if you’re not in this photo!).\u00a0 But if you want to know even more, read on! \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/div>\n

25 Things<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div>\n
1.\u00a0 I met my husband on my 21st birthday.\u00a0 I\u00a0saw him the weekend before at\u00a0a Navy game….guess who introduced themselves first?<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
2.\u00a0 I was fortunate to attend mass with Pope John Paul\u00a0II\u00a0twice, once in 1980 as a kid in Guam.\u00a0 The second time was in Rome in 2000.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
3.\u00a0 I’ve eaten Pillsbury chocolate chip cookie dough since college.\u00a0 Gosh, I’m admitting that?!<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
4.\u00a0 We have a vintage Scotty planter collection.\u00a0 I love Scotties although we’ve never had one!\u00a0 When we go antiquing, Randy and I have a game of who will find a Scotty planter first.\u00a0 Or a pie safe.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
5.\u00a0 I love old pie safes and we have two.\u00a0 W<\/span>hen we were first married and living in Monterey, we found the\u00a0absolute perfect pie safe with beautiful punched tins.\u00a0 We’ve always regretted not buying it. \u00a0 It even had a little mouse hole in one of the top drawers.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
6.\u00a0 Speaking of mice, I had a pet rat in college.\u00a0 Actually, my Dad ended up taking care of it for me since I was in a dorm.\u00a0 The rat was from\u00a0one of my\u00a0psychology classes and I rescued him after the course was over.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
7.\u00a0 I try to befriend “new” people, as I know what it’s like to be the new one in a group.\u00a0 My Dad was in the Navy and we moved every couple of years growing up.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
8.\u00a0\u00a0I’ve tried so many crafts, I’m\u00a0crazy about\u00a0learning new things…like basket weaving,\u00a0cake decorating, stained glass…and eventually jewelry.\u00a0 I was afraid my interest in jewelry would be another phase but\u00a0thankfully I was wrong!\u00a0 I’ve enjoyed it more and more each year.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
9.\u00a0 I used to think using a refrigerated pie crust was cheating, but now I use the frozen ones because I can’t let that stop me from making pie!<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
10.\u00a0I was born in Japan.\u00a0 It saddens me that there are relatives there that I would love to see but cannot.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
11.\u00a0 I’ve always collected things…sea glass, the drawings my Dad sketched on our lunch bags, stickers, you name it…<\/span><\/div>\n
As an adult, it’s more like\u00a0Transferware, Ironstone, and Southern Living Christmas cookbooks.\u00a0 I like Junior League cookbooks too.\u00a0 In fact, I like to read<\/em> cookbooks, especially the dessert section!<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
12.\u00a0 My Grandmother made the best apple dumplings.\u00a0 I’ve never tasted anything that comes close.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
13.\u00a0 My favorite color used to be pink.\u00a0 I even decorated my locker in pink and gray, my favorite color scheme at that time.\u00a0 Now my favorite color is blue.\u00a0 I’m still\u00a0love the\u00a0blue\/brown color scheme.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
14.\u00a0 I’m dreaming of a studio space with tiny twinkling lights, vintage odds and ends, chipped antiques scattered throughout.\u00a0 Creamy whites and very shabby chic.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
15.\u00a0\u00a0When I found out I was having my second boy, one of the playgroup Moms told me “God gives you what you need”.\u00a0\u00a0 Now I have 4<\/strong>boys.\u00a0 Hmm, I wonder what the message is?<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
16.\u00a0 As a girl scout, we visited the set of “Happy Days” (a favorite along with “Laverne and Shirley”).\u00a0 Would you believe we all lined up to give Henry Winkler a kiss!\u00a0 \u00a0My ideal was always Richie Cunningham!<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
17.\u00a0 I try to live without regrets but do have a few.\u00a0 A relatively minor one was mentioned in #5.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
18.\u00a0 I’ve lived in CA 3 different times in my life (as well as 4 different countries).<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n

19.\u00a0 I love to bake but I’m not the best at cooking…I would rather my husband cook any day!\u00a0\u00a0 Some of his specialties are chili, pumpkin pancakes, salmon cakes, Thanksgiving dinner (gravy!), and even Japanese food like Gyoza<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
20.\u00a0 If we had a daughter, we would have probably named her McKenna Rose.\u00a0 (McKenna from “Somewhere in Time”, and Rose after my Grandmother.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
21.\u00a0 Kind gestures go a long way with me.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
22.\u00a0 I’m painfully sentimental.\u00a0\u00a0 I pretty much keep it all.\u00a0 Now with kids, it is SO hard to throw their work away.\u00a0 One time I asked another parent what she did with all of the schoolwork they bring home and was horrified when she said she put it in the “vertical filing bin”.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
23.\u00a0 My favorite M&M color used to be those tan ones….do you even remember those?<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
24.\u00a0 I’ve subjected my kids to 80’s music\u00a0so much that now they can\u00a0recognize it…my 4 year old will even ask, “Can you put in the 80’s CD?”<\/span><\/div>\n

25.\u00a0 I never forget a friend.<\/span><\/div>\n
