{"id":6345,"date":"2011-06-09T01:10:18","date_gmt":"2011-06-09T05:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=6345"},"modified":"2011-06-09T01:10:18","modified_gmt":"2011-06-09T05:10:18","slug":"artbeads-design-partners-whats-old-is-new-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=6345","title":{"rendered":"Artbeads Design Partners {what&#8217;s old is new again}"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>&#8220;What&#8217;s Old is New Again&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The theme for the latest <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artbeads.com\">Artbeads<\/a> blogging challenge is right up my alley.<\/p>\n<p>Blog partners were asked to incorporate vintage or antique components with modern elements, those that could be found in the many categories of beads and findings that Artbeads carries. \u00a0Finding inspiration from the past? \u00a0As you know that&#8217;s something that has been calling my name more often than not. \u00a0A way to combine my two favorite interests! \u00a0 I knew exactly which piece I wanted to select from one of \u00a0my many vintage satin jewelry boxes. \u00a0With a special brooch in mind, I decided to browse through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artbeads.com\/base-metal-components.html\">Artbead&#8217;s base metal category<\/a> first. \u00a0With the rising cost of precious metals, working with base metals has become more common than ever. \u00a0I am careful to chose components \u00a0that are generally heavier in weight and\/or have some special detailing.<\/p>\n<p>I like to search for unique chains, and Artbeads has a variety of choices. \u00a0I chose a brass-plated twisted double link cable chain (can you say that 3 times fast?) with a nice, antiqued finish. \u00a0This chain has a substantial weight, great for the scale of my larger-sized focal. \u00a0The two-strand necklace also incorporates Artbead&#8217;s brass-plated split ring cable chain.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6346\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=6346\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6346\" title=\"artbeadsblogging_regina3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/artbeadsblogging_regina3.jpg\" alt=\"artbeadsblogging_regina3\" width=\"515\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/artbeadsblogging_regina3.jpg 515w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/artbeadsblogging_regina3-150x118.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/artbeadsblogging_regina3-300x237.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also chose beads from the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artbeads.com\/swarovski-crystal-beads.html\">Swarovski crystal category<\/a>. \u00a0I opted for chunkier crystal in 8 and 10mm. \u00a0Pairing Swarovski&#8217;s clear faceted crystals (no. 5000) with vintage components like rhinestones, for example, is a classic combination.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6348\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=6348\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6348\" title=\"artbeadsblogging_regina1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/artbeadsblogging_regina1.jpg\" alt=\"artbeadsblogging_regina1\" width=\"515\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/artbeadsblogging_regina1.jpg 515w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/artbeadsblogging_regina1-150x102.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/artbeadsblogging_regina1-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The clear crystals worked well with both the brooch-turned-focal as well as the old chandelier crystal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Regina of the Gilded Age&#8221;
