{"id":7521,"date":"2011-12-15T02:35:11","date_gmt":"2011-12-15T06:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=7521"},"modified":"2011-12-15T02:36:08","modified_gmt":"2011-12-15T06:36:08","slug":"hello","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=7521","title":{"rendered":"Hello&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you for stopping by after extended blog break! \u00a0I&#8217;m still here. \u00a0I was beginning to feel like a lurker &#8211; stopping by your blogs when I could but sometimes not leaving comments. \u00a0There&#8217;s so much going on in my life behind the scenes; something had to take the back burner and I know it was the best decision. \u00a0I found it is a relief to actually take a break &#8211; something I would not have dared to do in the past. \u00a0There&#8217;s that expectation to keep the momentum going and keep on blogging. \u00a0But as you may know, if I don&#8217;t have anything to blog about (or pictures to share more often than not!), then I keep a low profile. \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0But I decided not to wait another day to drop in &#8211; I&#8217;ve missed saying hello to the world, so here I am. \u00a0 \u00a0And here&#8217;s a bit of what I&#8217;ve been up to&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=7526\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7526\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Blog_Break_making M&amp;M cookies_opt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_making-MM-cookies_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"491\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Any excuse to bake! \u00a0Nothing like making red and green M&amp;M cookies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=7527\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7527\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7527\" title=\"Blog_Break_getting-ready_opt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_getting-ready_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_getting-ready_opt.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_getting-ready_opt-150x184.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_getting-ready_opt-244x300.jpg 244w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Getting ready for the holidays. \u00a0The lights are up. \u00a0The tree is up. \u00a0There is so much more on our traditional to-do list though &#8211; cut-out sugar cookies, painting plaster village pieces, making a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=2226\">fruitcake<\/a>, visiting the National Christmas Tree&#8230;.. and don&#8217;t forget those cards. \u00a0Does anyone else send handwritten greetings anymore? \u00a0I like to &#8211; but I&#8217;m sadly behind schedule.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A highlight this month was our oldest son&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/usfirst.org\/roboticsprograms\/fll\">robotics competition<\/a> &#8211; \u00a0his team made it to the FLL State Championships in Harrisonburg, VA. \u00a0 It was so fun to see the many teams and their amazing robotic designs. \u00a0It was a weekend of intense competition from presentations and team challenges to matches in speed and skill.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=7528\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7528\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7528\" title=\"Blog_Break_FLL Collage -final_opt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_FLL-Collage-final_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"2498\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_FLL-Collage-final_opt.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_FLL-Collage-final_opt-150x749.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_FLL-Collage-final_opt-60x300.jpg 60w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_FLL-Collage-final_opt-135x675.jpg 135w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Would it surprise you if I told you that I managed to find a FANTASTIC antique mall in the area?? \u00a0Of course I did my research and I found that the largest (90,000 sq. foot) antique mall on the East Coast happened to be 25 minutes away! \u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.factoryantiquemall.com\/index.html\">Factory Antique Mall<\/a> is a destination that truly rivals my favorite antiques town in PA. \u00a0This mall just kept going, and going, and going&#8230;. and it was full of <em>good<\/em> stuff &#8211; not vintage junk, if you know what I mean. \u00a0 It would be interesting to see how this mall functioned years ago as a coat factory.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=7529\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7529\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7529\" title=\"Blog_Break_Antique-Warehouse-Verona,-VA_opt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Antique-Warehouse-Verona-VA_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"752\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Antique-Warehouse-Verona-VA_opt.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Antique-Warehouse-Verona-VA_opt-150x225.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Antique-Warehouse-Verona-VA_opt-199x300.jpg 199w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Antique-Warehouse-Verona-VA_opt-448x675.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=7533\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7533\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Blog_Break_dog-figurines-galore!_opt-1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_dog-figurines-galore_opt-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t help it. \u00a0I&#8217;ve always been drawn to vintage pups. \u00a0Especially those sweet Scotties. \u00a0One of these days I&#8217;ll show you one of my Scottie collections!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=7530\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7530\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Blog_Break_Pie-safepaisley_opt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Pie-safepaisley_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"737\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>*sigh* \u00a0 Two favorites together &#8211; an old spool cabinet and a pie safe &#8211; with a great paisley pattern. \u00a0We&#8217;ve been looking at pie safes since the year we were married way back in our days in Monterey. \u00a0We frequently recall the one that got away &#8211; you know, that piece that you <em>should<\/em> have bought and years later regret. \u00a0There was one we recall vividly (and I even took notes about it back when I actually carried a notebook while antiquing) made of walnut and a charming cut-out in the top drawer, likely made by a mouse.<\/p>\n<p>We were lucky to find some special pieces this time around, our favorite being a beautiful old nativity. \u00a0In addition to the holy family, \u00a0there are 15 figurines made from chalkware, I believe &#8211; including a large camel. \u00a0It really was a good fortune to find this set the day it was put out by the vendor. \u00a0My husband likes to decorate for the holidays by first putting out our nativity set that he brought back from Israel, and telling the children the story of the birth of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?attachment_id=7534\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7534\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7534\" title=\"Blog_Break_Vintage Nativity_opt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Vintage-Nativity_opt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Vintage-Nativity_opt.jpg 515w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Vintage-Nativity_opt-150x123.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Blog_Break_Vintage-Nativity_opt-300x246.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201c<\/strong>And an\u00a0angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, \u201cFear not, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
