with sterling silver wire.\u00a0 Some were embellished with bead caps or spacers, some with fancy wire wraps and twists, and others were left simply alone.\u00a0 I also added a nice bunch of silver beads and wirework links to the mix.\u00a0 This step took quite a bit of time, figuring out what to do with each one and then individually wire-wrapping them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-765 aligncenter\" title=\"scenic-route-pieces1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/scenic-route-pieces1.jpg\" alt=\"scenic-route-pieces1\" width=\"430\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After each bead unit was ready to go, the real fun began!\u00a0 The best part was laying out each piece to see which bead would look just right next to which bead.\u00a0 I reworked the design several different ways; I didn&#8217;t want too much blue here, or too much red there.\u00a0 Some of my favorite links are the turquoise howlite, red coral and honey jade.\u00a0 I then attached each unit link by link again with sterling wire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-766 aligncenter\" title=\"scenic-route-oxidized\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/scenic-route-oxidized.jpg\" alt=\"scenic-route-oxidized\" width=\"430\" height=\"347\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now this is truly a behind-the-scenes shot.\u00a0 \u00a0This is what a piece of jewelry looks like once it&#8217;s been dipped in a solution of liver of sulphur.\u00a0 I took the piece out once it reached a dark, steely gray (which is only after a minute or two, depending on how hot the water was).\u00a0 This is one look that&#8217;s popular now, where the jewelry designer\u00a0leaves the sterling silver just like this, no polishing at all.\u00a0 \u00a0I went on and polished the necklace with fine steel wool, then placed it with soap in my tumbler.\u00a0 I let it tumble so long that\u00a0 the wire is now shiny, yet retains the dark contrasts in the coils.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-767 aligncenter\" title=\"scenic-route1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/scenic-route1.jpg\" alt=\"scenic-route1\" width=\"450\" height=\"383\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-768 aligncenter\" title=\"scenic-route5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/scenic-route5.jpg\" alt=\"scenic-route5\" width=\"450\" height=\"344\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-769 aligncenter\" title=\"scenic-route4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/scenic-route4.jpg\" alt=\"scenic-route4\" width=\"450\" height=\"369\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the 3rd time I&#8217;ve made this style design, a hodge podge of sterling and gemstone beads.\u00a0\u00a0I kept my first one and wear it all of the time (like today).\u00a0 \u00a0<strong>This necklace is aptly named &#8220;Scenic Route&#8221;, for all of the beautiful and one-of-a-kind stops along the way in the road of life.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 Remember this group of colorful beads?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They&#8217;ve been transformed in to a finished piece of jewelry and I&#8217;m going to take you behind the scenes to show you their journey. \ud83d\ude42 Each of\u00a0 the beads were made in to &#8220;bead units&#8221;
