{"id":892,"date":"2009-04-08T11:30:41","date_gmt":"2009-04-08T18:30:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=892"},"modified":"2009-04-08T11:30:41","modified_gmt":"2009-04-08T18:30:41","slug":"sweet-hearts-and-metal-hearts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/?p=892","title":{"rendered":"Sweet hearts and metal hearts!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0April 8th&#8230;.today is our anniversary.\u00a0 Can you guess\u00a0 how many years we&#8217;ve been married??\u00a0\u00a0 Fourteen years and 4 kids later, here we are!\u00a0 I came downstairs this morning to find several notes like this around the house:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-901 aligncenter\" title=\"happy-anniversary-09\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/happy-anniversary-09.jpg\" alt=\"happy-anniversary-09\" width=\"400\" height=\"303\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I know I&#8217;m a lucky girl.\u00a0 I think I&#8217;ll just have to keep him. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>I recently finished a project from a great book on metal work.\u00a0 &#8220;Wrap, Stitch, Fold and Rivet&#8221; by the multi-media artist, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maryhetts.com\/\">Mary Hettmansperger<\/a>.\u00a0 Deryn Mentock has been <a href=\"http:\/\/somethingsublime.typepad.com\/jewelrychallenge\/\">hosting a challenge\u00a0 <\/a>\u00a0in which she has been following along with this book, project by project.\u00a0 Many jewelry artists have participated, and although some are already up to projects #15 or so, I wanted to join in on the fun too {better late than never}.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-903 aligncenter\" title=\"wrap-stitch-fold-rivet-book1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/wrap-stitch-fold-rivet-book1.jpg\" alt=\"wrap-stitch-fold-rivet-book1\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This was a great push for me to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.\u00a0 I had all of the materials I needed from a great new metal\/wireworking shop, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundametals.net\/\">fundametals<\/a>.\u00a0 Check out Jeanette&#8217;s shop the next time you need sheet metal, design stamps, tools or wire!<\/p>\n<p>The first two projects I made were &#8220;Stacked Spinner&#8221; style pendants.\u00a0 You can get as creative as you want with these, as there is no right or wrong.\u00a0 The dangles\u00a0 swing freely on the pendant and are quite fun to wear.<\/p>\n<p>The techniques I used were:<\/p>\n<p>Cutting and forging sheet metal, texturing, punching holes, wire wrapping, letter stamping and adding patina.\u00a0 I used copper and brass sheet metal with sterling silver and Greek ceramic components mixed in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-894 aligncenter\" title=\"coiled-copper-stacked-pendant2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/coiled-copper-stacked-pendant2.jpg\" alt=\"coiled-copper-stacked-pendant2\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-895 aligncenter\" title=\"coiled-copper-stacked-pendant\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/coiled-copper-stacked-pendant.jpg\" alt=\"coiled-copper-stacked-pendant\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-896 aligncenter\" title=\"bloom-pendant\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sweetbeadstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/bloom-pendant.jpg\" alt=\"bloom-pendant\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the &#8220;Hope&#8221;
