More than you ever wanted to know

by Cindy on June 21, 2007

I’ve been meme tagged!  Some of you may be familiar with this kind of on-line tagging, and since I’m new at blogging I knew I would participate.  My friend Kerry over at Kab’s Creative Concepts was thinking of me.  Maybe she thought my neglected newbie blog needed a little help!  So here we go ~ on to the questions and answers!

 1. “What were you doing 10 years ago?” – Living in Newport, Rhode Island.  I was taking taking a diversion from the field of social work, and worked in human resources as a recruiter.  Those were the days, living in Navy housing and enjoying the quaint local New England towns on the weekend.

 2. “What were you doing 1 year ago?” – One son just finished his first year of preschool, the other completed Jr. Kindergarten, and the last little guy was close to two.  The older two started the junior swim team and nature camp.  It was the start our new routines for the summer!  I had been making jewelry for about a year then.

3. “Five snacks you enjoy:” – Warm brownies, Mochi, A big slice of chocolate cake with plenty of frosting,  Hot crab dip (especially from Annapolis, MD), Chocolate chip cookie dough… as hard as it may be, I’ll follow the rules and limit my answer to five!

4. “Five songs to which you know all the lyrics:” – Prepare to enter the Time Machine where you will experience more than one blast from the past… “Bizarre Love Triangle” by New Order, “We Belong” by Pat Benatar, “The Promise” by When in Rome, “Melt with You” by Modern English”, “Jumper” by Third Eye Blind, “The Old Apartment” by Bare Naked Ladies… I could go on, as you can see I’m into retro music.

5. “Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:” – this one’s really tough for some reason.  I’ve been asked this many times and it’s hard to come up with anything more than the standard kind of reply, but if you insist… maybe a new construction home in the “right” location (which can be asking a lot here in Northern VA) with my dream kitchen, a light-filled dedicated studio, a beautiful stone patio overlooking a wonderfully landscaped yard (blooming flowers, sprawling vines, and plush grass all maintained by a professional)…

6. “Five bad habits:”  Procrastination, enjoying way too many sweet things and too often (are you surprised about that one?), tolerating stacks of paperwork for too long, and staying up super late.

7. “Five things you like doing:”  Strolls with my family, antique shopping, baking, collecting lampwork beads (just had to add that one!), going out with the family for ice cream.

8. “Five things you would never wear again:”  Laura Ashley-style dresses, short shorts, a bikini (gasp, it’s true!), super skinny jeans…
How’s that for more than you ever wanted to know about me? 🙂  Now I’m on to tag a few lampwork artists and jewelry designers that I admire.  I am supposed to “tag” 5 people, but I think I’ll just be selective and narrow the game down.   Ofcourse partricipation is strictly optional!  I am off to contact Nightingale Gallery, Mixed Media Jewelry, and Anne Made Jewelry.

On the first day of summer we’re off to visit a dear friend.  Lunch and a dip in the pool are in order!
