Step by Step Wire

by Cindy on November 7, 2013

Hello!

Today’s feature:  wire jewelry. 🙂

Right about now some of you may be receiving your subscriptions to Step by Step Wire magazine – the Dec/Jan 2014 issue is out.    I’m especially excited about this issue  because not only are there beautiful projects inside, I also have a new wire link project featured. I didn’t stop making links once my book manuscript was turned in – oh no, I have more ideas filling cups around my work table. 🙂  SBS Wire has a special place in the early years of my wire-working journey.   My first nationally published tutorial was in SBS Wire back in 2008.  Now 5 years later I am thrilled to share designs as the 2014 featured artist.  I hope to create wire design tutorials that will inspire you, just as the projects in this magazine have inspired me over the years.

I thought I’d show a few pictures of the project you’ll find, as it was photographed on the flip side in the magazine.  Here you can see that the links are actually textured with decorative stamps. It is subtle and either way is fine – plain or with stamps.

Recently I couldn’t resist turning to a spool of wire to create a birthday present for my sister.  Simple wrapped loops were transformed into earwires with a cascade of iolite, crystal, gray onyx and Hilltribe beads.

Thanks for stopping by and reading about the latest in wire on my end. I hope you are enjoying moments of creative bliss in your neck of the woods!

What an absolutely lovely necklace! Cindy, I just got your book The Missing Link a few days ago and am slowly working through it, my links are still a bit wonky, but I like them. I am really enjoying it and hope to be adding some fresh new links into my future designs. Thanks so much~ Warm Regards, Tammie

I think these double infinity wire links are my favorite yet! And the little bit of texture really makes them special. Hoping my Step by Step comes today. Congratulations on being featured. Well deserved!

Congrats on being the featured artist Cindy!! So deserved!! Love the links with the stampings–gives them a lacy look which is very elegant and classical at the same time. My square wire arrived. I will be trying out the sliding rings link very soon.

That is a gorgeous link, Miss Cindy! I love the sinuous curves and the texture. I totally want to learn how to make this! That is one that I could see myself using, maybe even modifying a bit. What a lucky sister you have! Thanks for sharing this new eye candy! Stunning as usual. Enjoy the day. Erin

Alice November 9, 2013 at 1:31 pm

I was so excited when I received you book in the mail. I haven’t had time to make any of the projects in the book but hope to soon. Your book was well written and filled with great photos. Your sister will love her gift!!!

Linda Landig November 12, 2013 at 1:03 am

I love these links. They are so graceful!

A few nights ago I knocked over a glass of wine, which splashed on your book on the coffee table. I grabbed your book before anything else on the table and wiped it off asap. Thankfully it was white wine. I set the book under a weight so the pages would dry flat and not wrinkle up. The book survived, thank heavens! 😉

These are the sexiest links I’ve ever seen from you! I just adore them! I’ve got to find a way to use these– just gotta get to BAM to find a copy of SBS Wire soon. I’ve been following you in these mags all these years and so happy you’re still doing articles so we can see your new ideas as they evolve.
