Heart of Mary

heart-of-mary

Oh I’ve been wanting to work with all of the vintage pieces I have been collecting for some time.  Working a little at time when I could steal away a moment, I created this necklace I’ve called “Heart of Mary”.    Please read here about Saint Catherine Labouré. This history and meaning behind this Catholic medal is really very interesting.

I created a bail from a rhinestone shoe clip…it was just waiting to be “repurposed” into a sparkly halo of a bail.  There are faceted aquamarine and vintage glass beads wire wrapped with stainless steel wire.  I was hoping to create something rustic with a little bit of sparkle.

Heart of Mary is available in my Etsy shop

What are your plans for the long weekend?  We’ll be heading out of town to visit my husband’s family in the Blacksburg area.  It will be a long drive tonight!  One of the highlights will be heading to Hillsville, an outdoor antique market that draws thousands of people.  I haven’t been to this one in 8 years…one month before our first born arrived.  We went home with a great big pie safe and an old wrought iron bed tied to the roof of our car.  I’m trying to pack light so I can bring home some goodies again! 🙂

Have a safe weekend, friends.

Viola! You’ve taken the plunge….I absolutely love it Cindy. You did a beautiful job my friend.
And, if I could fly to your home via the Concord right now, to go to the antique market, I would do it in a heart beat =)
Have a safe trip…..I am home….with some good news =) *wink*

This is stunning. I absolutely love that sparkly repurposed bail. And the blue is so serene with the medalion. Well done!

For the weekend? We’ll be celebrating Texas style by smoking a brisket and having a little party with the neighbors.

Delicate necklace with soft colors and a really beautiful medal. Not to rustic, just delicate.

Have a nice weekend, hope you find lots of goodies….

What a wonderful story piece you have created Cindy!!! You have honored the quiet, sudtle beauty that defines the “Holy Mother” beautifully !! For centuries dusty light blue has been the color associated with her. So your choice in beads and the rhinestone buckle for her crown is nothing short of perfection!! 🙂

This is not a holiday weekend here. But I think we will go to the quiet beaches south of town for wonderful ceviche with friends Yum!!

Cindy, you did a wonderful job on the “Mary” necklace. It’s absolutely lovely! Great idea to link to the story of the miraculous medal, too, for those who don’t know. We are celebrating Labor Day week end by not laboring. Life has been hectic for 2 retirees and we’re enjoying some beautiful sunny weather finally! Have fun with Randy’s family. And good luck with your treasure hunt!
