Wandering down to Williamsburg

by Cindy on September 7, 2010

Well hello, friends!

I hope this finds you well-rested after the long weekend.  My oldest son will be starting school today so a new adventure begins.  The start of the new school year is quite evident by all of the commitments that are already popping up on my calendar.   And so it is around the world.

I may as well rename this blog Sweet Bead Adventures as I have not focused on the Studio end as of late.   Family comes first and if you know our family, we rarely sit still for long.  We took a road trip down to one of our favorite tourist spots:  Colonial Williamsburg.  We have visited  every year for 13 years or so….and our dog Hodgie who you’ll see in these pictures, was there way back then too.  Hodgie and Bentley were there for many picnics in the days before kids.  I last mentioned this town in this post…..and hopefully we’ll squeeze in one more trip in 2010!

I was sad to find that one of our favorite restaurants, The Trellis, was under new ownership and therefore no longer baked the amazing brownies and cookies I have come to love.  All was not lost, we trekked across the way to Wythe Candy store and everyone was happy!  Have you been to this wonderful Colonial town?

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day or evening wherever you are in the world!

Great fun! I miss Williamsburg. Over about 20 years, we’ve made many trips there. My husband’s uncle was the pastor at St. Bede’s church in Williamsburg. Lots of crabbing in that area! Glad you all had such a great time!

Another great post with fantastic pictures!! Some time, could you come up here to NY and research all the good day-trip places we have around here? You find the best little places (not the Colonial Williamsburg is one of the little ones). I know a few of my locals ones, but I bet you could find a few more!!

Beautiful photos. I’ve never been there but would love to see it. I was hoping to have a short road trip over the holiday but it didn’t work out. Now I have you to thank for the ‘virtual’ road trip!

Wonderful trip down memory lane for me with these photos. I lived in Chesapeake, VA as a kid an we visited Colonial Williamsburg almost once a month. Lovely photos!

I’ve never been there but it’s definitely on my list. It reminds me a little bit of my hometown in Minnesota. Great pictures!

I would have loved to have gone with you — it’s been a long time since I’ve done the historic bit!

lovely pics! my hubby and I lived in the Northern Neck for several years. My parents and brothers came to visit from Florida, and we all went to Williamsburg for a day trip. Imagine our delight when it started to snow on the way there and kept it up for most of the day. My little brothers (not even teens yet) were ecstatic! It was one of those wonderful memories that we still talk about to the this day. :o)
