How to start the year

by Cindy on January 3, 2011

Welcome first visitors of 2011!  So happy to see you’re stopping by after my long break!

If I could think of the dream way to start the year, it would be going on the road to a place I’ve never been.  We did just that when my parents took our 3 older boys on a ski trip…..and left us down to one little guy and a dog.  Sure made life seem so easy!  So my husband and I left late Friday night and headed to where we knew antiquing is always good:  PA!   We found a gold-mine of an antique mall that is housed in an old bakery (talk about charm), the Antique Marketplace of Lemoyne.

We came home with many treasures – one of my favorites was an old robin’s egg blue powder case which doubled as a music box, made in Switzerland (should show a picture of that one).   With just one little guy in tow, we were able to antique through several towns in record time and made it home by 8 p.m. the next day!

Hope your new year is off to a fantastic start as well!

Happy New Year to you and Randy and your lovely family! What a great trip! But Nathaniel doesn’t look like a “little guy” in those photos! Amazing how fast they grow up! May this new year be filled with many blessings for you and those you love!

Oh lucky you to start the year off antiquing! Hubby is just not up for that sort of thing anymore, plus I don’t need more things to dust (but I sure want ’em).

Happy New Year to you and your family!!!

Looks like fun! I can’t remember the last time my husband and I had a weekend like that. And I certainly couldn’t get him to take me shopping of any kind. That little one is a trooper… and so stylish! Wishing you a stellar new year, Cindy!
Enjoy the day!

What a great way to start the new year! It must be lovely to have grandparents to look after three of your boys every once in a while…I’m sure your littlest one loved having mummy and daddy all to himself too! 🙂 Wishing you and your family a wonderful 2011!

My husband and I love to go antiquing. Our son who is now almost 13 has tagged along with us since he was in his stroller. He now collects old locks and keys ( and has become a bit of an expert) and loves to go antiquing with us too! Loved your photos! Happy New Year, Cindy!
