Jeanette and I are happy to kick off the ArtBLISS year with Metal Magic, workshops featuring Stephanie Lee of Semiprecious Salvage!

Have you ever wanted to work with metal in a unique way, a way that revs up the imagination?

Come join Stephanie Lee and ArtBLISS  for two very special classes, “Handbook of Elements” and “Pipe Dreams”, with exceptional Metal Magician Stephanie Lee, March 10-13, 2011, at the Hampton Inn & Suites in the Washington, DC Metro area.

These not-to-be-missed events are being held as two separate classes.  On March 10-11, ArtBLISS and Stephanie Lee kick off the extravaganza with the “Handbook of Elements” class.  Held from 10:00 to 5:00 on both days, this project-focused workshop will teach students how to transform and build up sheet metal, adding vintage and found objects to the cover of the book using basic metal-smithing techniques.

Students will also learn how to create pages and unexpected journal surfaces by learning the nuances of plaster and plaster-like products.  Finally, you’ll learn to bind off your journal with knotting and other techniques.  Who could ask for a more beautiful way to chronicle your artistic plans and dreams?

On March 12-13, join ArtBLISS and Stephanie Lee as Stephanie teaches “Pipe Dreams”.  Through this class, the student will create a barrel-form vessel which you can fill with your dearest hopes, dreams, and wishes.  What better way to hold them close to your heart than to learn how to create this masterpiece with Stephanie Lee?

Registration for both workshops will open at 10:00 a.m. (EST) on Sunday, January 9th on the ArtBLISS website.

We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to our friend Lori Anderson who has been a great help with our marketing efforts.  Lori created the sweet Metal Magic blog badge.  Please add this badge to your blog, if you’re so inclined, to help us share the word about this retreat!  The code can be found here under the Presskit page.

We hope to see many of you there!

I love Stephanie’s work, and became more enamored with it after taking the Homesteaders Metalsmithing e-course. Both classes sound like a lot of fun. Wish I could be there.

Wow, I want to sign-up for at least the weekend session so badly…not only because I love Stephanie’s work, but because of seeing all my home girls! Unfortunately, it is going to take some budget research, as we are fairly strapped right now.
