Hello
Wasn’t the weekend wonderful with the spring-like weather? And did you notice the flowers in bloom? I was happy to see the daffodils and cherry blossoms in full glory. With the older boys off skiing one last time with their Grandparents, Randy and I headed south to Fredericksburg to enjoy the beautiful day and stroll around Old Town. This picturesque town is so incredibly rich with history; once home to George Washington, James Madison, and James Monroe. I found an old blog post that I wrote a couple years ago when visiting Fredericksburg, and had to laugh to myself. Two years later I’m talking about doing the same things….I can’t be called fickle when it comes to my favorite pastimes.
Okay so maybe I like to do some of the same ‘ole things. I was inspired though to see something different on this visit. See the town from a new perspective. When you stroll through streets lined with such incredible architecture – from the buildings to the homes, it may be easy to overlook some of the best details. This time I made a point to look up and admire the details from the rooftops down. I’m glad I did.

Have a great week & thanks for stopping by! And here’s to new perspectives – may we all discover something new amidst the familiar this week!

Great architectural details – wonderful photos, Cindy! You are way ahead of us – not much blooming here yet – just snowdrops. But it won’t be long now…

Love hte pics, Cindy. Great perspective! And you are so right about the spring. The sun is shining and although it is a little bit cold the air is smelling like spring:-)
Cheers to new perspectives! What a wonderful sunshiny weekend. 🙂
what a beautiful day you had! i love all these photos. those details are amazing and if you ever make it up here to rochester, i HAVE to take you to east ave. it is lined with homes with details like these.
Beautiful pictures Cindy indeed! Looking up! I love this perspective…..we sometimes miss so much! Yes, Spring has been springing up all around here in the South! My wisteria is blooming AND my English dogwood. My favorite antique rosebush is awash with blooms =) It is glorious ?
Cindy, What a wonderful set of pics! Love the old rooftops, and the owl. Have to say, my fave is that beautiful cherubic face with those long eyelashes!
Everything is blooming like crazy here, and my driveway is filled with yellow snow (pollen). You can tell who the tourists are, cause their cars are clean.
Beautiful!
What a lovely getaway! I’m a sucker for all kinds of architecture of any age and era. I just love the capped round turret in your fourth photo. And I’m a sucker for the curves of a corbel.
Such a wonderful day! The old is so beautiful and the “gingerbread” on the old Victorian homes make for such eloquence too. Beautiful Cindy!
I love old architecture, and you have captured beautifully! I am so jealous of your blossoms, it is sleeting here today!
Glad you had some fun and quality time with Randy!
Beautiful pictures Cindy! I too love architectural details and the photo of the museum and the building with the stars are my favorites. Great color and clarity in the photos and nice perspective. Really makes us feel like we’re looking up with you!
Love, love the old architecture. Wish we could make molds for jewelry parts!
†hat is one of my favorite things to do when exploring a town…take my camera and look at everyday things from a different perspective…it affects everything when you choose to look at your surroundings from a different perspective!
Cindy, a little late getting around to my favorite blogs. First, love the white blossoms on that tree. In upstate NY we are still dreaming about that day to come! I spent alot of time in the VA area around the 90’s as my sister in law lived in Newport News. VA is one of my favorite places to visit for history lessons. Now backing up to metal magic. That look like a blast and I just adore the little treasures that were made. Keep up the good work. You are inspiring so many people to focus on creative energy.
I am so envious of your lovely Spring weather. We are still getting snow here in my part of the world. Spring is very unpredictable up here near the Rockies! I am praying for warmer weather.
LOVELY photos and weather! And you know what? This week is spring here, in Ireland, too! LOL
Have a wonderful week, hugs
Sanda
Sometimes Lit’l Mama the best views are the ones looking up. It gives you a whole new perspective on things! 🙂

I LOVE old architecture and gingerbread details– thanks for sharing these! Another great picture of your youngest– how do you get such intimate shots! I think it shows the great love you have for your sons. You really see them as individuals and your photos always express their unique personalities. Wish we had some cherry blossoms up here– nothing but snow but blue skies today–YAY!
Great blog.I really did enjoy the photo of your son. Do enjoy them as time passes sooo fast. I have been wanting to ask you what settings do you use to get those wonderful photos like the ones from the Flea Market Example the one of the white cup with little poink flowers.

Hi Cindy. Great pictures! I have to make it down to Fredericksburg again soon. It is so close and I guess I did not realize it has so much history! Thanks for opening my eyes to that! – Tracy
Love the photos! Such a great reminder to look up, I am so often looking on the ground for found objects! Fredericksburg looks beautiful, I shall have to put it on my list of places to visit some day. The blossoms are especially lovely to see, as snow returned to my corner of the Great White North today. 🙁

Is it just me, or is it just generally more beautiful where you’re located?!?! LOL
All I can say is WOW-Look at all those gorgeous pictures! I’m not generally interested in buildings, but even I have to stop and appreciate sights like that. Like you said, so intricate and historic 🙂
Thank you for sharing your trip with us! As always, I love living vicariously through you 😉
We live in Stafford and LOVE Fredericksburg. It is my favorite “old town”. I would much rather head south on a weekend than north :). I would recommend Fredericksburg VA to anyone visiting the area. Great history, scenery, and antique shops!!!
