A little pink, pretty please.

I {heart} pink these days.  When I think of Spring, pink certainly comes to mind.  The National Cherry Blossom Festival opened this weekend in DC and the blossoms are blooming everywhere.  This event is so timely as our hearts go out to the people of Japan.  I hope we are able to attend while the blooms are still out.

A very special friend is having a birthday this week (please say Happy Birthday to Lori on Tuesday!), and we were able to meet for an early celebration when she was in town for a big show.  I admired Lori’s new pink ‘do in person, and let me tell you her smile was just as vibrant!  We caught up about everything from the usual bead talk, to family, and dreams for the future.  And of course there was something yummy for dessert.  Lori finally had her pie and it came with a great big birthday sparkler.

Back at home I was in the mood to create something simple to wear with a new pink top.  I don’t think I’ve touched a crimp in over a year so it felt rather invigorating to make something strung with no wirework involved at all.  I used a chandelier crystal and a vintage floral earring using Diane Cook’s  Princess Crystal Drop technique.  With a random mix of Swarovski crystals, rose quartz, pearls and Czech glass, I put together a simple & sweet Spring necklace.  If you’d like one of your own, drop me an email as I believe I do have all of the components to make a another necklace.

Your spring has arrived. I live in Michigan and we still have patches of snow on the ground. It will be May before much green comes out. Now it is just dirty. Some pink would be lovely.

Beautiful ladies, beautiful necklace. It’s still cold here but I see pink and pastels in my future, soon. Looks like you and Lori had a great time. Do I recognize Famous Dave’s for dinner?

Nicki March 28, 2011 at 7:52 am

Ok this is inspiring – I feel like I need to buy some pink for my hair. Rebel times are close. Sounds so good right now. rebel pink. I love it. Need to make some jewelry today – you just got me back to the beading table (first time in weeks, girl!)
Thanks for that.

Your smiles are infectious! I’m sure Lori is glad to have the show over too, hopefully it was a great success. The necklace is lovely and perfect for spring. I like to wire wrap but my first love will always be stringing, I really enjoy laying beads out on the tray and stringing them up and the way they fall so easily when finished. I just posted yesterday about the snow we woke up to, I thought it was about an inch but they are saying we had closer to 2 so anything spring is a welcome sight right now!

I had such a good time that night! And the necklace is amazing with that rose perched on top!

Looks like you and Lori had a great time! I’ll have to remember her birthday tomorrow.

I just love the necklace you made, and the crystal drop is gorgeous!!!

I hope you do get to see the cherry blossoms. It snowed here last night and more on the way this week. Driving around town I don’t see anything blooming outside–which is very rare for this time of year.

Enjoy your week!

Oh Cindy this makes me smile, the pink sure brings out a little spring for me, I do know that I am suffering from spring fever, I am a little sick of snow and cold here. Thank You for sharing my dear friend. Lynn

kim March 28, 2011 at 3:02 pm

I bet it is so beautiful there–here in Iowa it is still cold and “shades of brown”. Once we do warm up we have a beautiful avenue of “pink” trees as I come to work –they last such a short time but I always love them for that breif time.

Erin Prais-Hintz March 28, 2011 at 4:08 pm

How great that you were able to meet up with Lori for her birthday. Looks like a ton of fun, with sparklers and everything. I love the necklace. It is pretty and romantic, just like you! Enjoy the day! Erin

It’s so nice to see that you got to get out and catch up with a friend-That’s always so very welcome, especially these gorgeous, Spring-filled days 🙂 And of course, happy early birthday to Lori!

That necklace you made is so beautiful Cindy-It makes me miss my beading so much! Those are the kind of pieces I create xD

Hope the start of a new week is treating you well!

Typically, I’m not a pink kinda gal, but I dabbled in a little pink this week as well. I guess it’d the time of year and the feeling of needing something “fresh.”
