I have an extra special friendship with a particular color scheme. The monochromatic scheme and I are on very good terms. 🙂 Generally considered visually pleasing, the monochromatic color scheme involves using various tones and shades of a single base color. If I had to chose a single color that I prefer to work with the most, it would have to be blue (what, you’re not surprised?). The color of the sea and sky, who can resist a color that imparts such a sense of serenity. Read here to see what your favorite color might say about you. I find that when using a single color, adding a good mix of textures and shapes can take a piece from ho-hum to incredible. Adding art beads most certainly adds to the wow factor.

Lengths of beautiful brass chain were wire-wrapped to an assortment of beads to create this ode to Spring. The art beads included are ceramic beads by Nan Emmet, a large-hole lampwork ring by Sue Kennedy, an enameled bead by Barbara Lewis, and a sweet polymer clay bird by Heather Powers. I added a wire nest link to complete the Spring theme. I love creating long necklaces, and this one is a versatile 36″ in length.

I’m a monochromatic girl too! I try and break out of that box from time to time via a very creative color wheel that I have. It was designed by Beverly Ash Gilbert and is great when your not sure what goes with what. Enjoy your day!

This is so pretty Cindy! I really like the brass with these colors instead of silver. I am definitely a monochromatic kind of girl too. I love earth tones mixed together and I love the turquoise/green/blues. For the same reason, sun, sand, surf – all very calming images.
I love blue, too. Or red. And you can get a really nice range of greens, too…

I love working with many different colors, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be green-I don’t know why, I just love working with anything green!

I don’t know about monochromatic but I am drawn to the shades of blues, greens and purples, over and over, like in hydrangeas. I too love the colors of sea and sky and it’s just as you said because it’s peaceful and calming.

Cindy, Too funny – Four of Heather’s birds are on my table right now waiting to be used! I have copper and brass wire to patina plus some nesty steel beads made. And I’m thinking of picking up some of the red on the bird.
Love what you did with all the blues. Just shows how different bead shapes and textures can come together when in the same color family.
As far as color – I like black as it serves as a backdrop for any other color. But my fav are the blue-reds.

I am in love!!! I always have a secret love afair with blue. And these days I really love putting shades of sand and brown with it. I’m truley in awe with the perfect melding of the shades of blue. As if one fands into the next!!

Such a lovely necklace Cindy! I am (similar to many here I see!) a turquoise girl – I’m just back from the Costa Blanca in Spain (very Southern, only a hop, skip and a ferry ride away from Africa) and so my mind is filled with vivid teals, aquas and the like!
