Do you ever take pictures in series? I do! I’ve been intrigued in the past by old doors, chandeliers, and of course my kids! 🙂 This summer something caught my eye on the beaches. Today I’d love to share a collection of photos I’ve taken over the last 2 months. I couldn’t resist when when I stopped and noticed just how interesting a beach umbrella could be.
What color is your umbrella?

Delightful pictures. Wish I were at the beach too.
I love these, Cindy, and you know how badly I need a little beachy eye candy!
hey gorgeous, isn’t it fab when something catches your eye…love all the different colours….but especially love the beach, one of my fav places to be {sadly am not there enough!} Great photos! ;o)
talking of colour, if you’re interested I have a little colour challenge of my own over on my blog {http://hellogorgeousdesign.blogspot.com/2011/08/colour-challenge-riverside.html} just for a bit of fun….first challenge I’ve thrown out! ha!
have a great weekend with your boys sweetie! ;o)

hello gorgeous xxx
Cindy! I love this … your photos, as always, are amazing. I’ve loved to take photos of umbrellas too, but to see these beautifies all in one place made my heart skip a beat!
Oh my – these speak loudly and clearly of summer – wish I was already at the beach. Hope you are enjoying your days there – it sure looks like you are.
OH MY STARS!! How cool are these?!? What an eye you have!! Those are some fantastic umbrellas and way to capture them. I love this post 🙂
Love the umbrellas! They are fantastic and thanks for sharing!!!! I have a black and gold umbrella – Go Purdue! Have a wonderful weekend!!!
What beautiful pictures. So bright and cheerful! Thank you. (ours is rainbow colored)
Well I thought I was a rainbow girl until i saw that gorgeous pink and turquoise one, ***swoon*** perfect vintage! Love the series Cindy!
Great theme.
These pictures just made me feel happy! I love the bright colors and, of course, the beach! I have done that taking pictures in a series. I have a zillion pictures of old, rotting barns from all over northern Virginia. All black & white. It was fun when I was on that kick!
Too fun! Makes me want to run out to our local beach and see what it has to offer in the way of umbrellas. Probably not nearly so nice a collection, especially since it’s cool and cloudy here today.
Thanks for sharing – great use of closeups in your photos.
Oh what sweet photos! Such bright and cheery colors. I would love to be at the beach under one of these lovely umbrellas right now!!
Clever girl, you see everything! Thanks for sharing these fun, colorful photos with us!
I’ve never thought to do that before! Like a personal collection in photograph form 🙂
Clever idea! I also never knew how interesting and unique umbrellas could be-I really love the 4th photograph in your ‘collection.’
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us!
Cindy, you make me long to dig my feet into the warm sand, oh how I miss the ocean. We are about 7 hour ride from the ocean, not easily accessible. I just love your pictures…the colors are beautiful, especially when you have a bright blue sky as a back drop.
Cindy, what great photos! I never noticed how many different color combinations there are in umbrellas! You have a great eye for framing and color etc.! Keep it up! I particularly like # 11– almost looks like it’s raising a flap in greeting! Thanks for sharing the beach with those of us who aren’t there. Our trip to Baltimore has been pushed back until probably Labor day! Would love to see you.
Looks like a little bit of heaven to me Cindy! So glad you are all enjoying yourselves and having fun!
Thanks for stopping by, everyone! And btw, #11 – the blue and white stripes – is OUR umbrella! Of course I had to include ours too. 🙂
Ohh, what a beautiful series! LOVE the colors!
I wanna go back to the beach!!!
Hah! Now you’ve made me think of polymer clay umbrellas– layered, striped, etc. Thanks! little turned-up edges–oooh! I just did a spokes piece for the ABS challenge this month, looks like more circles ahead!
Oh. My. *love* these shots! And I really want to go the beach now 🙂
the colors are the eye candy, but it is what beach umbrellas do that make them draw your eye. They hide and they protect. in a light way. a fragile way. more graceful than a feather boa.
These are some beautiful photos Cindy..the colors are so vibrant and alive..I have never taken a series of photos before, but you have me thinking now ( : Hugs,Cat
Hi Cindy! These are so dang fun. Love seeing all the colors and combinations. Have fun for all of us, and put more lotion on! Riki xoxo
Totally love this! And I’m glad I took a picture underneath (pointing up) when I was sitting under YOUR umbrella!
(And of course, my umbrella would be pink and purple. Probably with dots.)
Oh, what beautiful beach umbrellas! I love them ALL =) And, your beach pictures always make me want to be there too!
My umbrella would either be the very first one or the very last one! And, if I could…I would dangle a few chandelier crystals from the top inside (if I could). The light would catch those crystals and bounce everywhere!! But, alas…glass would not be good on the beach…
What delightful pictures! I don’t have an umbrella though 🙁
I’m loving this!!
Umbrellas are such beautiful bursts of color on the beach. When the boys were young, I always searched for unique patterns and colors…or painted my old umbrellas…so the boys would always know which ones were ours. We’ve had a HUGE pink flower, red-white-blue patterns (for the 4th, of course), and more. For our trips this summer, we’ve got a Hawaiian printed umbrella in brilliant tropical colors…and an orange and white one, which I am painting with citrus fruit.
Near tears, I read your piece about Hodgie and my heart just goes out to you and your family. Nearly 16 years is SO long! Time and prayer are your best friends now. I hope your heart heals fast, Cindy.
Warmly,
Linda
What a beautiful post! I’m a photographer/blogger & I have a series of umbrellas too, under the title “Beach Umbrella Crush” ;0)
