Macro Sunday in the U.S. Bontanic Garden

by Cindy on October 16, 2011

Hello!  Time for Studio Waterstone’s  Macro Sunday.  It’s been a little while since I participated last, but with the photo opportunity that I had recently, I couldn’t resist!

Recently we spent the afternoon in DC in a wonderful oasis known as the U.S. Botanic Garden.  We went last year as well, and I think this is definitely a tradition we plan on keeping.  The Botanic Garden contains every imaginable type of plant, including succulents, medicinal plants, orchids, a children’s garden, and endangered plants.  We spent a good amount of time examining each section from roses to the rainforest.  And as you can imagine, this was the sort of place you’d want to keep your camera out!

(and yes, the little guy woke up shortly after this picture and didn’t miss a single flower)

It felt great to play tourists in our own back yard!
Thank you for stopping by!
-Cindy

Oh what a beautiful place to visit—espically as our summer flowers fade and we will be looking at bare branches soon. Your photo’s are wonderful. Glad you had a beautiful day.

Beautiful photos! I wish we had more time to visit the garden when we were there a few years ago. A good reason to go back again.

Gorgeous macro shots, Cindy! The flowers are so unique, isn’t it amazing how many different specious of flowers there are in those gardens! My favorite though is the ducks jumping into the water.

I love day trips to D.C. Your pictures are gorgeous! The family pic is wonderful – so cute with your little one sleeping. I love the one with the boys watching as the ducks jump in the water. I’m impressed you can go get all your boys (big and little) to go looks at flowers with you! : )

These are beautiful shots and I just wanted to tell you the picture of the lipstick plant has given me an idea for a bracelet. I’ll let you know if it actually works out! 😉
