Boy Scouts, Brides and Birthdays!

by Cindy on March 29, 2009

If you’re stopping by to see what I’ve been up to, I’ll show you with a few pictures!  It was a great weekend, busy from start to finish.  On Friday night the older boys had their Boy Scouts Blue and Gold banquet.  A bunch of fired up boys…lots of fun.  There was a little draw back that evening though…when we attempted to go home at 9 p.m., we found our van door would  not open which required poor Randy to work on it out in the rain for an hour.  After buying a wire cutter, he fixed the problem.  No more automatic door though…it’s manual until we get it fixed!

On Saturday I enjoyed a girls-only event.  One of my best friends from high school is getting married this Spring, and it was bridal shower time!  Other than my little guy in tow, it was a nice afternoon of ladies only.  There was a delicious vegetable lasagna and yummy fruit punch.  Nothing like good old fashioned shower games, housewares and a little lingerie mixed in.  Check out the great  big ribbon and bow bouquet made from all of the shower gifts!

On Sunday I had a nice afternoon out with my 6 year old son.  He loves to come along to antique and craft shows.  It may seem unusual for a little boy to enjoy these kinds of things, but he sure was a great companion for the afternoon.  While at the Craftsmen’s Classic Arts and Crafts Festival, I enjoyed meeting a few jewelry designers, photographers and glass artists.  I love how people enjoy sharing what they do.  The highlight was visiting Lori Anderson’s booth…she has such beautiful jewelry (especially her chainmaille bracelets!).  It’s great to visit with her from time to time as she lives on the Eastern Shore.  It was her birthday and she wore the cutest b-day tiara.

I found a colorful aluminum wire necklace at the show that I thought would be great to wear this spring and summer.  The necklace was made by Kazuko Fuller from Chesapeake, VA.  Unfortunately she doesn’t have a website.

I also picked up some Easter gifts made by a husband and wife team.  The husband cuts out each of the wooden shapes and the wife does all of the painting.  How’s that for teamwork?

And saving the best for last, today is my husband’s BIRTHDAY!  Happy Birthday, Randy!!  He’s going to enjoy the morning off from work on a field trip with a busload of first graders…heading off to see an exhibit on the Voices of Africa.  And tonight we’re going to break a little bit from tradition and have a different kind of cake (can’t spoil it in case he reads this!).

Have a nice week!
