Come with me…

by Cindy on March 14, 2012

….on a walk along the side streets of Georgetown.  The weather is just perfect for a stroll.  It’s been a while since I took door shots (like in Alexandria).  So let’s take a look at  some of the beautiful and varied doors that line the cobblestone streets in the historic district.  Do you see a favorite?

Not a bad way to get the point across, I suppose!

Now why don’t we head a block over from the neighborhoods and do some window shopping.  And that glare on the windows?  Sometimes I prefer to not to worry about a polarizing filter because the scenes reflected off of the windows can add to the story…. a glimpse of what’s across the street or who happens to be walking by….

An unattractive break in the quaint scenery – sky high gas prices…

What’s this?  You don’t need to twist my arm!  Let’s head inside for something cold…

What a stroll we had!  Thanks for joining me!

Love the door photos. Santa Fe is another great town for unusual doors. I love taking photos there!

I loved this one (and, of course, felt homesick!!). I once did a whole series of photos of the wrought iron of Georgetown. There’s some amazing ironwork there!

I haven’t been down to the DC/Georgetown area in years and miss visiting! Thank you for your awesome stroll…

(~le sigh~) Bakersfield just doesn’t have this kind of unique beauty. We’re an old oil town. Maybe I just need to stroll thru the older neighborhoods (’cause our downtown is nothing like this… mmmm, history). We do, however, have our own old family Sweet Shop – LOOOVE Dewar’s!
I’m going to say my favorite shot is the one of what looks like an old church door. Altho’, I do like the one with the merry-go-round horse, too.

Love the door photographs! I just love seeing different style of doors on people’s houses, stores, churches, etc.

Ooh – shades of home. I had to go re-view the Old Town post. Since I lived there…I didn’t go to G-town all that much – but you have reminded me of hoe gorgeous it is… Thanks!

Definitely love the arched doors with iron scrollwork hinges but that church door with exquisite stained glass comes in a close second. The ice cream shot has me craving!

What a lovely spring day…it’s funny, when I am on a photographic tour, I am obsessed with cool doors too…the ones in New Orleans are amazing!

How beautiful!
And it looks like you had a lovely day to go on your stroll, too 🙂

I wish I could’ve been strolling with you, but your photos are the next best thing! You are multi-talented! I was all set to pick the door with the wreath, and then I saw the blue one, and, well, it’s me, so I have to go with the blue as a favorite. They’re all wonderful treasures, aren’t they? Your children will learn to appreciate all of these artistic and cultural things, too! Thanks for taking us along!

I have this obsession with doors – I love them. Seriously love them. And I’m going to be visiting friends up near you in a few weeks, so I’m hoping her neighborhood is just as pretty!

Hmmm, I wonder why this post didn’t show up on my blog reader. I’ve been having trouble with that lately–it’s rather frustrating.

I love your photos! Georgetown looks like a great place to visit! The doors are just gorgeous! I have an obsession about doors, and took so many photos of them while in San Antonio. I’m hoping to post them sometime soon.

Thanks for sharing!

It’s amazing how doors have their own individuality. Wonderful shots. And love the shop windows. And make mine a double scoop!

They remind me of the doors in Annapolis! I love wandering through historic neighborhoods. Someday we’ll have to visit Dublin– amazing doors there. You are such a great storyteller!
