Hello
Did you have a soggy weekend wherever you are? Even though it called for rain, my Dad and I took the kids on a quick trip to the beach. The trip to the beach wasn’t actually the quick part. If you’re familiar with the DC area, you know what traffic is like leaving town on a Friday during rush hour, magnified by rainy conditions. But it was worth it to wake up on a Saturday morning far from home and so close to the ocean. The weekend started out full of puddles, but the sun peeked out by the afternoon.
If you’ve stopped by my blog since last summer, you’ll know I do go a bit crazy taking beach pictures….I can’t resist. Here are my very first of the season….nothing like getting started in March! Now with the time change though, it really feels like Spring is just around the corner. Won’t be long til I can put on my sandals just like my son who you’ll see below! 😉

Have you seen the latest issue of Step by Step Wire Jewelry? Gracing the cover is the beautiful wirework of -your friend and mine – Jeanette Blix Ryan! Jeanette’s wire spirals are made with such precision. All of her jewelry is made with attention to detail. I’ve been lucky to see this great piece in person. Now if only my copy of this issue would arrive, I’d love to see it in person too! By the way, I think this is one of my favorite SBS Wire covers – the colors are so fresh and I just love the whole layout.
I have a sweet Spring woodland bracelet to share today…. each component handmade by well-known artists. Just look at the adorable owl here – by LeAnn Weih of Summers Studio. Have you seen the adorable beads coming from her studio lately (birdies, owls, and now *sigh* bunnies)? I have something special planned with one of her new birdie beads…but I’ll have to wait to share that with you! This bracelet also includes pretty porcelain links by Melanie Brooks of Earthenwood Studios. And I just love to add lampwork beads by Moon Stumpp to my jewelry – the depth in her beads are just amazing. There you have it…. a bracelet with an all-star cast! 🙂

Hello Everyone!
I don’t want to keep you waiting any longer! Many of you have been so kind to ask for pictures from this weekend’s Painting with Fire workshop with Barbara Lewis. Let me tell you, Saturday ranked up there with one of the best days I’ve had in recent memory!
Just picture the dream day: learning a brand new technique you’ve been dying to try, meeting amazing people you’ve known through their blogs (and brand-new non-blogging friends too), good food, wonderful weather, and most importantly…..the perfect instructor! That is what I experienced on Saturday. Jeanette and I feel like our first event was a huge success, and really we owe that to one first-rate lady, Barbara Lewis. Now I have to tell you, Barbara came as part of a dynamic duo….her husband Jim helped run the show behind the scenes, and his knowledge of enameling was amazing as well – what a wonderful man! *sigh* Can you tell I had a great day??
It was really incredible to meet some people I’ve known from their blogs…and to meet them for “real” was just awesome. It really made my “online” world a reality…and I think many of you can understand what I mean.
Now what are we waiting for?! On to the pictures! And would you believe….I was the only one with a camera! Let’s step back in time, and you’ll feel like you were there too!
