Hello Holiday Season

by Cindy on November 30, 2009

Welcome back!!!  How was your Thanksgiving weekend?  I can NOT believe how fast it all went.  Here it is Monday, and now we’re facing  the holiday season.  My Fall wreath is still hanging on the door. I told my husband when we left for Florida that when we returned, it would look out of season.  Those fall colors are put too quickly behind us and are replaced with red, green, silver and gold.

We made it home safe and sound yesterday,  and I can’t complain.  There were stretches once we made it back in to VA where we could only drive 15 miles an hour, but all that matters is that we had a great time and made it home safely.  If I haven’t stopped by your blog recently, I apologize.  I have a lot of catching up to do! If you’ll humor me, I’ll share some pictures from Florida.  We had a great time with my brother, sister-in-law, and their sons (ages 3 and 13 months).  We made it to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, the town of St. Augustine, my baby nephew’s beautiful Baptism, and a few playgrounds in between.  That’s a lot to pack in to such a short time!

12-days-of-christmas-charm3

Before I left on our trip, I was happy to mail out my charms for the Charmster’s 12 Days of Christmas Charm Swap.  I was assigned “11 Pipers Piping”….hmm, now how would you tackle that one?  Not too difficult when you can find some great clip art!  The tricky part for me though was putting the images in the little Patera bezels.  With the help of my friend Jeanette,  I tackled resin for the first time.  We used Ice Resin and I found out first-hand that there is a learning curve involved with this stuff!  Some of the charms turned out better than others, and I’ve learned a few things to try/avoid the next time.  I made tags for the charms to resemble book marks.  Maybe they can be slipped in to the pages of a Christmas classic, such as “The Nutcracker” or “A Christmas Carol” (can you guess what books my husband pulled out already?)

*I need to add here that I’ll be laying low as I work on a few projects with LOOMING deadlines!   I’ll be a bit swamped in the next few weeks getting those projects completed (along with the usual holiday craziness!).  I’ll pop in when I can!

Have a great week!

WOW, big family:) How fun! I love ICE resin but I have noticed if you don’t mix it right, your piece NEVER dries! I have a couple of pieces that I have to pour some resin over it but I am waiting for mom & I to make more resin type pieces cause I don’t want to let it go to waste. Doesn’t it stink to high heaven?

Great pictures as usual, Cindy! Love/hate those alligators–ugh! What a cute bunch of boys– and I love how that red hair keeps cropping up in your family! Glad you had a good weekend with your family and I hope you got time for a long walk!

So glad to hear you are home safe and sound and that your trip was wonderful! Your pictures are beautiful!! Your charms came out so fantastic too!! I haven’t tried the resin thing, and don’t think I want to.
I know what you mean about the looming deadlines, although I think I am setting myself in a good place so I’m not going crazy nuts later….lessons learned from the past! The holiday itself is crazy enough!! Hugs!!

Hey Cindy, looks like you guys got to see and do a lot of things while in Florida. I love St. Augustine, a beautiful town and also a town full of artisans if I remember correctly.
Your packing for your charms are awesome!! I can’t wait to get mine..it will be my favorite bookmark..and of course, charm:)

Glad to have you back safe and sound!! I agree-The Fall season just flew by and it was WAY too fast 🙁
Although now that the winter holidays are looming, I don’t know whether to be excited or to go run and hide. Today is an indifferent day though (I’m sure as it grows closer there will be more excited days).
Those pictures are all beautiful-It looks like you and your family had a great time in FL(I’m so jealous LOL)

P.s. I seriously <3 your craft projects!

Welcome Home!!!

Glad that the whole little famdamily had a great time and are home safe!!! Wow what alot of fun to pack into one long weekend. You should be one wiped out MOM!!

Little Cindy I think your maiden resin work is amazing!!! I’m working on getting up the courage to give it a go. I bought the only resin kit in town the other day!!! It was at Home Depot and was in a tattered box missing it’s instructions 🙂 So I have a bit of experimenting to do!!! Ahhhh but what is life without a bit of a challenge?? 😉 Hopefully mine will turn out somewhat as beautiful as yours. Heck who am I fooling I’ll behappy if it just sets up:)

Pock your head into Bloglandia when you have time!
