Usually I like to keep things simple, and I am always asked to bring desserts. One of the most stunning desserts I ever brought was a cheesecake/fudgey brownie concotion with a red currant ribbon of glaze that I call the “Tuxedo Torte” (because it looks black and white with a red cumberbund!). I also make a Ribbon of Cinnamon cheesecake. But lately I just haven’t had the time to do much. For Thanksgiving I made an Orange Pecan Pie with fresh squeezed orange juice. The taste was amazing and outside of the squeezing and zesting of the oranges was very quick and easy to prepare. Great giveaway Cindy! Enjoy the day! Erin
Sweet Cindy! You know the way to our hearts, and stomachs!! We have a tradition of making Welsh cookies for Christmas, even though we are Polish, not sure why, I guess because they are soooooo good! My gram used to fry them in a cast iron frying pan, but we have modernized that to an electric skillet! Thanks sweetie for your generousity as always! Big hugs!!
You will definately want the recipe for this. I make a Hot Bacon Cheese Spread for the holidays, (and any other time I think needs a really yummy treat). It is baked in the oven in a bread bowl and served with crackers or veggie sticks. YUM!!
This time of year always makes me think of my Mother’s gorgeous, creamy pumpkin soup. With just a touch of curry powder, this soup makes you laugh with pleasure, it’s so good! 🙂
I have a special treat I like to make around the holidays to give away. It’s called Crispix Treat. It has a cup of butter in it! Oh my!
Lefse with butter and sugar wrapped in it. Hopefully I have a receipe somewhere…you can purchase it in grocery stores in MN.
Yumminess…………
Cindy, Yum! I love all the food that the holidays bring…good thing Christmas only comes once a year. I can’t really pinpoint one particular food, I love them all! I especially look forward to the sweet rolls I make for Christmas breakfast…an I got the recipe from my Cooking Light magazine…all the better!
Hi Cindy….great idea! As it is really really hot in Australia at Christmas time…..we go for beautiful salads and succulent cold meat. Sooooo, if I won, I would share my Pumpkin, Pinenut and Parmesan Salad…..it’s to die for!
Who isn’t hungry after reading all of these delicious-sounding dishes??! Every single thing here sounds so wonderful!!! I’d love a cookbook filled with every one! Thank you for playing along!
There is nothing like home made enchiladas! They are my favorite!
I tend to get a little out of control when it comes to the Christmas baking… one of the most popular cookies in my arsenal is Chocolate Gingerbread, soft chewy gingerbread cookies with cocoa, chocolate chips and rolled in sugar. Don’t you want the recipe?!
Thanks for flying over to my nest and leaving sweet comments and your interest in my future classes. From what I see you are very talented and I love your blog banner. So now lets see about this recipe..it is very hard to pick just one but I love to make Albondigas…it’s a Mexican meatball soup that will never disapoint!

Well I don’t like Xmas pudding so I’d have to overdose on my Sticky Toffee pudding served with vanilla ice cream…heaven. 😉
Thanks for visiting my blogs Cindy, your comments are much appreciated. x
I came across a cookie recipe a few years ago that has white chocolate, cashews and dried cherries in it and this recipe has been my favorite to make and to eat at Christmas ever since.
mashed chipotle sweet potatoes – yumm! maybe more a thanksgiving dish but oh so good any time – savory and sweet.
Hm, they all sound so good so far. One of my favorites is Almond Marble Pound cake. Super easy to make and definitely yummy!
Now I’m really hungry! The one thing I always look forward to this time of year is Potato Cake. It is a dense, moist chocolate cake baked in a Bundt pan. No frosting, but still really great. This cake just means christmas to me.Now I am off to find something to eat….!
My favorite holiday recipe is Cheesy Hashbrowns. They are so simple to make, yet so yummy, cheesy and delicious!! I usually make them for Thanksgiving AND Christmas, but I wasn’t here for Thanksgiving (I was in Costa Rica), so I will have to make TWO pans for Christmas this year!!
Can’t wait to see everyone’s recipes! Thanks for the clever giveaway!!
There are a few favorites. I make a broccoli bake (that even I who hate veggies will eat) and for dessert I make oreo truffles (yummie). Thanks for the chance to win.
My mom used to make these great cookies to set out on the buffet with her brownies. They were little white cookies called “Forgotten cookies”. They are a kind of meringue that is cooked in a warmed-up oven that is then shut off when you put the cookies in (that is why they can be forgotten). The pure white with chocolate chips looks so beautiful next to the rich brownies and always a favorite.
Now that I am thinking of them, I will have to go bake some up!
Love the fried tostones of jackfruit or breadfruit with salt, butter, garlic and other seasonings.
My family immigrated from Slovenia (which was part of the former Yugoslavia) and one of our holiday traditions is to make Potica. It is a rolled yeast nut bread that is so delicious!!
Thanks for a great comment challenge, Cindy.
well, everyone’s into winning the drawing ` especially me ’cause i got laid off in october and the “i-need-beads” part of me needs some sustenance … speaking of sustenance, don’t know if everyone will be into my dish of turkey lasagna! this is one recipe where you really can’t tell it’s not beef. thanks for the opportunity to enter …
Cindy! I am ALWAYS asked to bring the BANANA PUDDING! It is indeed the BEST, and I WILL share it with anyone who contacts me ….rosajosies@yahoo.com. It is not the tradition old-fashioned kind (which I also love) with that beautiful topping of meringue (my mother always made it for my father), but one made with instant vanilla pudding, softened cream cheese, creamy cool whip, Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk, bananas, vanilla wafers, and a dash of vanilla….now if that doesn’t get your heart racing~
My children would not think it was Christmas morning without a ‘Breakfast Casserole’! Their grandmother comes to see what ‘Santa’ brought, and she always brings her famous ‘sausage pinwheels’. Let’s not forget the coffee and hot chocolate, too! So, Christmas morning at our house is filled with wonderful ‘Southern’ breakfast, hunger-enticing aromas!!
p.s. Love your site!!
Hi! Well, my sister introduced me to this yummy appetizer a few years ago, and I always insist she makes these when we are having a get together at her house: Cheesy Won Tons! They are easy to make and soooo good! Thanks for the fun giveaway, Cindy!! 🙂
I love to bake loaves of Portuguese Sweet Bread every Christmas. Some I leave plain, while other loaves are studded with dried cherries and pineapple!
One of my favorite holiday appetizers to prepare is my famous cheese ball that is served on Christmas eve, when our family gathers at our home for our Christmas eve buffet. Everyone loves it, and it gets requested every year!
I love decorating gingerbread houses! That bakery does look good, and It looks like you had a super time. Glad it is all Christmasy and white for you all.
Okay, honestly, I don’t cook. I do however bake and put together things so I’m going to say I love my Apple Snicker Salad 🙂
Thank you for this giveaway!
