The first signs….

God sees sweet flowers growing.

Looks like we were spared the snow during this new storm.  I’m thinking of you, my friends, further North who have did get a fresh round of it!

The other day while I was walking the dogs, I couldn’t believe what I saw.  There, in one of the few snow-less patches of dirt, were some of the first signs of Spring!  Oh what a happy day! 🙂  Spring is my favorite time of year, so I am cherishing every little sign that it is around the corner.  I know it’s still only February….but still, such a beautiful sight!

Are you too buried in snow to see any signs of Spring, or are there little buds popping up in your neck of the woods?

Hi Cindy – My loquat’s flower buds are popping now. The outdoor birds are singing like crazy today.

Well, the snow is melting and the temps are up to about 12° during the day. Tomorrow it is going to rain and maybe then we will see some signs. I heard it snowed again in Texas this week. Love those daffodil shoots!!

Spring has turned into a frame of mind for me.Easier said than done..coming from a Floridian! But lately, the cold has reminded me to feel. Yea sure, I feel cold,…but more importantly,I feel alive.Even as the cold air burns my nose, and even when the gray sky covers the beautiful sun…I feel spring when the birds dance high above me,when the sun get a chance to peak out and say hello,I feel spring when I wrap a wooly scarf around my neck, and when my youngest slips a hands in my pocket, letting me hold his little cold fingers.I feel spring,I feel gratitude.
I love your quote and photo!!Have a wonderful day Cindy!!

Hi, Cindy! I have little green shoots peeking out, too, and I saw my first Robin today! Yay! Maybe spring is just around the corner!

We finally got a season’s worth of snow in 1 day! “Spring snow” too– very wet and heavy and we were out of power for 20 hrs. But while I was tucked up in bed with my trusty notebook, I figured out a couple of classes in polymer clay, so all was worthwhile! Enjoy your buds, you deserve it for the rotten weather you just had!

I’ve seen a few buds here in Atlanta and my Carolina Jessimine has flowers on it……so Spring cannot be too far away!

That makes me so happy to see! It is all sunshine-y here today, but snow is everywhere I look. I am glad that someone is seeing shoots and leaves someplace on the planet.
Enjoy the day!

No buds here yet! As we speak it is snowing and we are supposed to get 10 to 15″ by Friday morning. I could cry, but thanks for the petty pic and warm thoughts!

Oooh, gorgeous! I haven’t seen any signs of Spring yet, but I think maybe I should take a walk around the neighborhood one day soon and keep an eye out 🙂
Thanks for the renewed hope!

Oh, how I love daffodils. The snow has mostly melted but we had a lot of rain earlier in the week and my yard is a mosh pit. Hopefully I’ll be able to get out so that I can feast my eyes on the signs of spring in my yard.

You just triggered some wonderful spring memories for me! We had all sorts of grape hyacinths in our backyard when I was little and it was just so cool to see the little mini grape clusters grow up through the leftover leaves from the fall that were still in the flowerbed. Enjoy these sweet beginnings!

Hello Little Mama,

You wouldn’t think in this forever warm land I would miss bulb flowers but I truly do!!! We don’t have any of the wonderful spring summer bulbs. We just don’t have that prolong cold weather that the bulbs need to grow. 🙁 By the time forced bulbs reach us they have already budded and are dropping the petals! 🙁

I’m glad to hear you were bypassed by the latest storm.Hang on Little Mama, Spring can’t be to far behind now! 🙂

HI Cindy;

Yup! Spring is here in Texas even though it SNOWED in Round Top 2 days ago (of course it all melted in less than an afternoon.) Saw my first blooming daffodil this morning – should have had my camera. I’ll catch it and the beautiful blooming moss tomorrow. Oh happy day.

Madeline February 26, 2010 at 11:30 am

Pattie, you can force your own bulbs if you have room in a refrigerator to chill them for a few weeks! My husband and I discovered daffodil shoots like Cindy’s on the main street 1 block from our house a few days ago. And we live in Dearborn, Michigan! Of course they are all covered with snow again but they don’t seem to mind that lovely warm white blanket for a little longer. Spring will get here sooner or later and I think most of us are hoping for sooner! Thanks, Cindy, for the lovely reminder!

Here in the south coast of Canada, we finally have winter snow. I have a feeling that the golden crocuses that herald spring will sprout earlier this year, but for now they are still dreaming in their beds. But I know they are there, full of promise.

Janet McDonald March 2, 2010 at 10:16 am

I miss seeing crocus popping out. And they smell nice too lol…

Janet McDonald March 3, 2010 at 4:16 pm

Ahhh I am back to say that your crocus’ inspired me to make a tulip necklace! Its on my page…and it will be hard to sell! If I do that is lol…
