Macro Sunday {Fall fun}

by Cindy on October 30, 2011

(Did you know that pumpkins had blossoms?  You can even cook with them….they are edible flowers!)

Hello!  Time for Studio Waterstone’s  Macro Sunday once again.
What a weekend…SNOW in October!  When the forecast called for snow today in VA, I couldn’t believe it….until I saw it.  I’ve seen pictures and read stories from some of you who experienced serious accumulation today.  Luckily we had already made a few trips to nearby pumpkin patches recently and experienced fall fun before the unseasonable snow hit. I have a few photos that go along with my pumpkin blossom close-up.  Here’s a day at Summer’s Farm in Frederick, MD.

Enjoy this Fall day – sun, sleet, or snow!

-Cindy

Snow!?!?!?!?!? Already? Oh my. Much too early. Especially where you live. Hoping you have a wonderful weekend anyway.

I am having fun just looking at your pumpkin farm day. Yes, it is way too early for snow. From what I’ve read this morning, it has been quite devastating in many areas. And my heart goes out the many who are affected. Hope you are staying warm and cozy.

It’s wonderful to see your fall pictures. Here in upstate NY our pumpkin patches are covered with snow. Looks like a fun family day at the farm. The boys are so photogenic. Love that action shot of you crossing the bales!

No snow here on the GA/FLA border, but the heat came on overnight. Pumpkin blossom cooking must be similar to zucchini blossom – but just give me some pumpkin muffins and I’m good to go!

What fun you had with your family at the pumpkin patch!

Oh, laughing at your antics at the pumpkin patch! Thankfully we are still having a mild fall and getting to enjoy the warm days. I am sure the boys were wanting to play in it!

Oh my stars! What an incredibly fun adventure you had!! What were you guys doing? Jumping hay bails? That image of the boys in the barrels is my favorite. It needs to be framed! 🙂

How much fun the boys were having (and you too)! I miss the days of going to the pumpkin patch. This year we purchased pumpkins and gourds at a flower shop. I felt like I was cheating, and was a little sad at the thought. Someday I’ll have grandchildren, and hope to start the tradition all over again.

These are great photos! I remember seeing the pumpkin blossoms on my dad’s pumpkins in our garden as a little girl and I do believe they fried them up or something, too – how lovely to be reminded of such a wonderful time in my life – thank you!!

Tracy October 30, 2011 at 4:41 pm

Awesome photos, and having lived in Frederick, I know where you were! That photo of you is awesome!

Such great pictures Cindy! I love the ones where you were all jumping across the hay bales! I remember doing just this, but also climbing huge mounds of them in the hay barn. I never once thought about anything being between them or you know…..They were often stacked as high as the barn themselves. We imagined they were our houses…kind of like our very own tree house!
And the one of your little one going down the slide…super fun =) And, is that kettle corn? Oh, now I want some =)) xo

Kathy October 30, 2011 at 10:57 pm
