Have you seen the 2013 edition of Easy Wire? I certainly look forward to jewelry publications dedicated to wire jewelry, especially one that only comes out once a year. Interweave’s Easy Wire 2013 is a hefty one – complete with 70 projects. This is my 5th year contributing to this publication, and I hope some of my pieces will inspire you. I was definitely excited to see this new crop of jewelry – all focusing on the many ways to use wire in jewelry designs.
Here are my jewelry pieces that are featured in the 2013 issue – I used a full range of wire: silver, gunmetal and brass + bronze. I’d like to share with you my favorite component in each design.

I was crazy about this wide, patterned chain the minute I saw it at Star’s Beads.

Here’s a favorite purchase I made at artBLISS last fall – a simple and sweet ceramic pendant by Jenny Davies-Reazor.

The bronze cones in this bracelet pull together a couple strands of Lapis Lazuli.
Thanks for stopping by my corner of the world today, and for sharing a few wire jewelry moments with me!

Well hello!
I’m jumping in for this week’s Focus on Life Challenge. The word of the week = Typography.
I was sure I would share a picture of some old and wonderful script from an advertising sign, perhaps. The more I thought about typography in the context of my life though, I thought about a project I am working on now. My dear blog will eventually undergo a redesign – a rebranding, in fact. A couple months ago I worked with a logo designer and one of the first things I had to consider was font. Now I know typography isn’t just about font, but I couldn’t help but jump in and pour over the many font choices out there. Font line-ups are pinned constantly on Pinterest. Finding the right font for a logo is no easy task, but I narrowed it down to script. I wanted to find a script that didn’t look commercial, but drawn by hand.
I poured through script font after font and nothing jumped out at me as IT. I’m sure many of you have experienced this – trying to find the right font for your website or blog header. It has to capture your personality, your image, convey some sort of message. Talk about pressure to find the right font! My friend Kerry put me out of my misery as soon as she suggested my own signature. Now that was the perfect idea! My very first sweet bead studio logo was created using my own handwriting. Afterall, how could I critique my own handwriting – certainly it would represent me like no other commercially available font could! Of course, writing the letters exactly right is another issue all together! Luckily my handwriting sample has since been selected and turned in to vector format for future use.

Hello
It has been way too long since I participated in Bead Table Wednesdays! What’s been on my bead table lately? It’s that time of the year and I’ve been working on a few teacher’s gifts. Recently I hand-selected two beautiful focal pendants at the Gem and Jewelry Show. I had two teachers in mind that I knew like to wear a heavier style of jewelry.
I found a jasper I had never heard of before. When I saw the selection of Royal Sahara Jasper pendants, I was drawn in by their bands of color. I learned that quality Royal Sahara Jasper has limited availability, and was found relatively recently (2006) by Oasis Prospecting. You can learn all about Janet and George Sechler’s discovery in the Eastern Sahara Desert on their website.

Over the long weekend we got to see our share of rock formations. In fact, we experienced the outdoors in all of its beauty while visiting my husband’s family in southwestern VA. We took a stroll along the trails of the Cascades, home of the renowned waterfalls.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!
