Summer, won’t you stay?

by Cindy on August 25, 2012

I made the sad realization recently that the sun is going down earlier.  I noticed the corn stalks, here on the Eastern Shore,  have started to turn brown.  And yes, Halloween decorations have been popping up on the shelves.   I have a hard time believing that summer is almost – gulp! – over.  Some kids have returned to school already.  And for some,  their kids have left home for the first time to start college.

When I see the countdowns for school to start, I avert my eyes.  I have a personal philosophy that life is just way too short to wish away any of the days.  I am going to relish every single last day left of the summer. This post is a little slice of  my Summer 2012.  I hope you don’t mind indulging me in my online scrapbook of my little guys – for this is how I’ve spent my days….very fortunate to live by the shore, the place that I am drawn to most (well, other than an antique mall!). 🙂 This summer was filled with days at the beach, a visit from my brother and his family (6 boys running amok in the house!), a few trips to Chincoteague and Assateague, and wrapping up the first phase of a very big project….cannot wait to tell you about it soon, too – my first hint ever!

I hope you are enjoying the sunshine when you can, taking it all in before the days turn chilly.

Happy Colors

by Cindy on August 14, 2012

Hello!

At long last I am back, and I’m here to share a selection of colors that make me happy.

Happy Colors #1 – found in this photo announcing the winner of my 6th Bead Soup Blog Party bracelet.

CONGRATS to Sherri Stokey of Knot Just Macrame! You’ll have to see Sherri’s work  – it is beautiful and I’ve enjoyed perusing her blog and Etsy shop.

Happy Colors #2 – bunchs of beads!  These were purchased at my first Rings & Things show earlier in the summer. Their show was right near my husband’s office so he met me in the parking lot to watch the kids while I shopped for an hour.  As you know, you gotta squeeze in beads when you can! 🙂

Happy Colors #3 – the colors of the water and our bright red kayaks.  We’re thinking of buying a 3rd soon. And to think there was a time when we all fit in ONE kayak just a few years ago!

Happy Colors #4 – Okay, maybe this isn’t fair.  But I couldn’t resist taking a picture of these chocolate cupcakes.  The rainbow colors of sprinkles are not just for kids!

I hope you are enjoying your summer and the Happy Colors that are surrounding YOU today!

Click here if you’re here to see my Bead Soup Blog Party post – thank you!

Hello everyone!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and gave me a BSBP shout-out.  I’m still making my way around the Bead Soup posts myself and it’s been fun.  I’m really enjoying the incredible variety of jewelry I’m seeing! I’ve been in awe and have thought to myself so many times, “I never would have thought of that!”

I was thinking that while everyone is caught up in the bead swapping fever, I’d let you know that next month you’ll have another chance!  On Saturday night at artBLISS, we’re having a Bead Destash Social!  The Bead Soup queen herself,  Lori Anderson, will be there to host!

Drop off your beads with us, attend the Meet and Greet on Friday night (where you can meet the instructors, meet a few amazing authors, shop and enjoy dessert!) and let us do the sorting.  If you can’t make it on Friday night, you can drop off your beads on Saturday too. Meet some friends and go home with new beads!  If you are taking a Saturday evening class, no problem! You can stop by and grab some beads and a brownie before you head to class!

artBLISS is so easy to reach – not far from DC and next to a major airport (that has free shuttle service to our hotel!) – make plans to come!

Oh, in case you’re curious about how artBLISS came to be – stop on over to the collective Love My Art Jewelry blog, and read Jeanette’s story!

We hope you can join us!
